Capcom has released a major new Dragon’s Dogma 2 Title Update, bringing some of the biggest quality-of-life and gameplay changes the action RPG has received since launch. Title Update 3.2 focuses heavily on performance, but it also overhauls the save system, makes Dragonsplague easier to manage, improves Pawn behavior, and introduces significant combat adjustments across multiple Vocations.

The update is available across PlayStation 5 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Capcom previously said it had spent more than six months working on additional optimization, including game engine improvements and numerous smaller performance changes.

In brief

  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 receives further performance and optimization improvements
  • Players can now use three adventure save slots instead of one
  • Dragonsplague can be cured with the new Dragonsbaulk Draught
  • Weapon skill slots have increased from four to six alongside major combat and Vocation adjustments

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gets Major Performance Improvements

Performance is one of the headline areas of Title Update 3.2. Capcom says the update combines game engine changes with a wide range of smaller optimizations. Producer Naoto Oyama previously confirmed that Performance Mode had been tuned to run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

PC players are also getting considerably more control over performance. New graphics options include Volumetric Fog Resolution, Foliage Density, Terrain Quality, Ray Tracing GI Quality, CPU Saving Mode, NPC Culling, Swaying Grass Quality, and several other settings. The graphics menu can now display graphics memory usage as well.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players also have access to a new Resource-Intense Effects Quality setting.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Save System Has Been Overhauled

One of the most requested changes is finally here. Dragon’s Dogma 2 previously relied on a notoriously restrictive save system, but Title Update 3.2 gives players significantly more flexibility.

The number of adventure save slots has increased from one to three. Each slot contains three different types of data: Autosave, Interim Save, and Last Inn Rest Save.

Loading a Last Inn Rest Save will also no longer delete the player’s Autosave or Interim Save. Capcom has additionally added the date and time of the latest save to the save screen, making it easier to know exactly which point in an adventure players are returning to.

The changes should make experimenting with different playthroughs much less punishing while reducing the risk of losing hours of progress.

Dragonsplague Can Finally Be Cured

Dragonsplague has also received another major adjustment. Capcom has introduced a new item called Dragonsbaulk Draught, which allows players to cure Dragonsplague directly. New Pawn dialogue related to the item has also been added.

However, Capcom is not simply making Dragonsplague less dangerous. The studio is also making the benefits of keeping an infected Pawn more noticeable.

Pawns suffering from Dragonsplague can now stun large enemies by attacking their legs, temporarily attack smaller enemies without consuming stamina, make stunned enemies easier to throw off balance, and accumulate their loss gauge more slowly.

The idea is to create a clearer risk and reward system. Players can cure an infected Pawn or keep the condition and take advantage of its combat benefits.

Combat Gets a Huge Upgrade With Six Weapon Skills

Title Update 3.2 also makes one of the biggest changes to Dragon’s Dogma 2’s combat system by increasing the number of assignable weapon skills from four to six.

Several universal action changes have also been introduced:

  • Players are less likely to repeatedly flinch after being hit
  • Enemies are less likely to target the Arisen while they are crawling
  • Being attacked while downed will now immediately trigger the get-up animation
  • Stamina recovery items used while exhausted now take effect instantly
  • Wakestones provide a longer period of invincibility after revival

Individual Vocations have received extensive adjustments as well. Fighter, Archer, Thief, Mage, Sorcerer, Warrior, Mystic Spearhand, Magick Archer, and Trickster have all been changed in some form.

Mage and Sorcerer gain the new Magick Barrier core skill, while Trickster receives Buoyant Brume, allowing the Arisen to float temporarily after pressing jump again while airborne. Warrior attacks, Archer mobility, Mystic Spearhand abilities, and numerous other skills have also been reworked or rebalanced.

Pawn AI and Quality-of-Life Features Have Also Improved

Pawns should feel more capable following the update. They can now grapple enemies, interrupt attacks targeting the Arisen, protect players who cannot move, perform follow-up attacks, make better use of environmental objects, and react more quickly during combat.

Capcom has also introduced new Pawn commands, including Explore and High Five! Outside combat, Title Update 3.2 adds equipment filters, equipment favorites, improved enhancement information, better Warfarer equipment management, and an option to skip the opening section of the story when replaying the game.

Overall, Title Update 3.2 feels less like a routine balance patch and more like a broad refinement of Dragon’s Dogma 2. With better performance, safer saves, expanded combat options, smarter Pawns, and a more manageable Dragonsplague system, Capcom is addressing several of the biggest complaints players have raised since the game launched.
