What is the Hierarchy of Needs and its Catalyst?

The Hierarchy of Needs is the new exotic bow that has been released with the season of the seraph. It is an energy slot weapon that deals solar damage to enemies. Its exotics perks are called Guidance Ring and Apollonic Tangent.

  • Guidance Ring: Precision hits and final blows build Guidance Ring energy. Opposing Guardians grant additional energy. At full charge, hip firing creates a Guidance Ring.
  • Apollonic Tangent: Arrows fired through a Guidance Ring release seeking projectiles, which do more damage based on distance traveled.

The catalyst also has something to offer to make this weapon more viable in the current meta. After unlocking the Hierarchy of Needs catalyst, it will reduce the bow’s draw time and reload speed for a “moderate duration” when deploying a Guidance Ring or striking an enemy with one of the bow’s seeking projectiles.

Both the Hierarchy of Needs and its catalyst is related to the new Spire of the Watcher dungeon. You can get the base version of this weapon by completing the dungeon and defeating the final boss. Getting the bow itself is not that hard since this new dungeon is one of the shortest dungeons in Destiny 2.

However, getting the catalyst from this dungeon might seem like a tedious task if you don’t know where to follow and how to increase your drop chance. To unlock the catalyst, you have to have the base weapon first, and then it will drop from this dungeon after completing it in master difficulty.

Master difficulty dungeon has a recommended power level of 1610, and it will also spawn overload champions with additional modifiers. So if you want to obtain this catalyst, we suggest getting an overload mod for one of your weapons and also getting some void resistance for better survivability.

While getting the new exotic bow might seem tedious to some of us, you can increase this weapon’s drop chance by completing some additional triumphs. There is a total of five triumphs available to increase the drop chance of the Hierarchy of Needs.

Suppose you are having trouble with the RNG and getting frustrated for not getting the bow after completing the dungeon several times. You can complete these triumphs to get a better chance of getting this weapon.

  • Mind the Vexplosion: Complete all encounters in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon without dying.
  • The Magnificent One: Complete all encounters in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon solo.
  • Untarnished Grit: Complete all encounters in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon solo without dying.
  • Resident Vexpert: Complete the Spire of the Watcher dungeon on Master difficulty.
  • Devil in the Details: Find and listen to each devilish recording throughout the Spire of the Watcher dungeon.
