Learn where to find all the weapons in Dead Space Remake, which ones are the best and where to find all of them.
One of the best games in the survival horror genre is back as EA’s Dead Space returns with an amazing remaster. With the disappointment of the Callisto Protocol, Dead Space is here to complete your unfulfilled needs to slice down demonic aliens with various weapons through dark, bloody hallways and rooms. Now with modern graphics, USG Ishimura is scarier than ever, with a brand-new look and feel.
Dead Space offers a couple of weapons and tools ranging from long-range rifles and laser guns to saw blades and cutters to rip off alien limbs. Each weapon acts differently to take down enemies and has alternate firing modes. Furthermore, each weapon also has its pros and cons, such as ammo availability, power, reload, speed, upgrades, etc., that make you decide what to use if you want to survive the stressful situation the game puts you through.
Nevertheless, all these sci-fi Dead Space weapons are fun to use, just like in the good old times. Hence, in this guide, we outline all the weapons in Dead Space Remake, where to find them, and which ones are the best.

All Weapons in Dead Space Remake
Dead Space Remake features the seven weapons from the main game. But this time, they can be found lying around. Whereas in the original, you had to purchase them. Furthermore, every weapon now has better sound and animations; some even have new abilities.
Flamethrower
- Base Damage: 65
- Base Capacity: 50
- Base Reload Time: 2.17 seconds
- Base Burn Duration: 5 seconds
- Primary: Fires continuously that damages enemies over time.
- Secondary: Fires a wall of fire as a barrier.
- Where to Find: Found in the Fuel Storage Room, attached to a corpse hanging from a wall, during Chapter 3.
The Flamethrower is always a classic weapon in any game, with its burning and crowd-controlling abilities. However, it is only helpful in certain scenarios, i.e., when overrun by numerous, weaker Necromorphs or crawling ones. Although it’s secondary can sometimes help you make an escape or stop these incoming enemies.
Contact Beam
- Base Primary Damage: 75
- Base Secondary Damage: 400
- Base Capacity: 12
- Base Reload Time: 3 seconds
- Primary: Shoots a powerful laser beam continuously.
- Secondary: Fires a single shot of a powerful laser.
- Where to Find: Lying beside a corpse in the Records Office during Chapter. (Level 2 security clearance required)
Contact Beam has one of the strongest damage outputs in the game, but it is offset by its slow rate of fire, low availability, and high cost of its ammo. We advise you to hoard ammo for the Contact Beam and use it when faced with more formidable enemies and bosses. Sometimes one shot is enough to shred multiple Necromorphs.
Line Gun
- Base Damage: 150
- Base Capacity: 5
- Base Reload Time: 2.5 seconds
- Base Projectile Speed: 50 m/seconds
- Base Rate of Fire: 55 rpm
- Primary: Fires a horizontal line of laser that cuts through objects.
- Secondary: Fires a laser trap.
- Where to Find: Emergency Equipment Storage room during Chapter 5. (Level 2 security clearance required)
The Line Gun is almost like the big brother of the Laser Cutter in a sense; it fires wider and stronger lasers. Thus, they can easily take down more than one foe or cut off multiple limbs.
Its secondary lets you position yourself by setting traps, but since Line Gun ammo is rare, you should save it for the direst situations.
Ripper
- Base Damage: 40
- Base Capacity: 8
- Base Reload Time: 2.17 seconds
- Base Duration: 7 seconds
- Primary: Shoots saw blades at high speeds that can be controlled.
- Secondary: Blades ricochet off walls and surfaces.
- Where to Find: Besides a corpse during Chapter 3 and “Refuel The South Engines” objective.
The Ripper in the Dead Space Remake is much better at controlling the blades and killing Necromorphs. The Ripper spits out spinning buzz saws which you can control to hit anywhere you like. It’s secondary, when used in closed places, can kill off everything within its range.
Force Gun
- Base Damage: 100
- Base Capacity: 5
- Base Reload Time: 2.5 seconds
- Base Rate of Fire: 60 rpm
- Primary: Shoots with a wall of kinetic energy that knocks down or pushes enemies and objects.
- Secondary: Shoots a gravity well that pulls anything towards it.
- Where to Find: Found in West Seedling Room A during Chapter 6.
The Force Gun is a fun weapon because it fires waves of kinetic force to blow enemies away. You can use the Force Gun to defend yourself from multiple enemies rushing towards or to power through groups of Necromorphs.
The only downside is its short distance, so you must use it in close-quarter combat and be agile. Its secondary summons a gravity well that pulls in enemies and traps them. You can either escape or take them out quickly.
Pulse Rifle
- Base Damage: 40
- Base Capacity: 50
- Base Reload Time: 2.17 seconds
- Primary: Fires with energy rounds.
- Secondary: Lays proximity mines.
- Where to Find: Besides a body in the Medical Tram Station in Chapter 2.
Pulse Rifle is the only weapon in Dead Space that looks and plays like a gun we usually see in video games. It is your standard Assault Rifle but with a sci-fi twist. The Pulse Rifle fires energy rounds with a very high rate of fire. Essentially shredding Necromorphs and their friends to pieces.
Its secondary fire is better as it shoots proximity mines that explode on contact. While the primary fire is ideal for concentrating fire on single targets, the secondary is used to take out multiple targets, making the Pulse Rifle a versatile weapon. Furthermore, its ammo is quite common but don’t go too trigger-happy, as its fast fire rate may drain you of ammo quickly.
Plasma Cutter
- Base Damage: 100
- Base Capacity: 10
- Base Reload Time: 1.67 seconds
- Base Duration: 150 seconds
- Primary: Shoots a line of laser that cuts through flesh.
- Secondary: Orientation of the line rotates horizontally or vertically.
- Where to Find: The Plasma Cutter is the first weapon in the game, and you equip it automatically as the game starts.
The classic Plasma Cutter is undoubtedly the best and most fun-to-use weapon in any Dead Space game. It is the first weapon you get to use in the game; hence, it has the most available ammo.
Moreover, the Plasma Cutter is an all-rounder in all aspects. It has good firepower, range, and fire rate. The Plasma Cutter fires a horizontal or vertical line of burning plasma that cuts through limbs and flesh. The secondary fire button can control the orientation.
Consequently, it gives you complete freedom in how you want to kill off a Necromoprh. Moreover, the Plasma Cutter is the unique weapon in the game, and considering how combat and enemy mechanics work in Dead Space, the Plasma Cutter is a perfect fit. Without this game wouldn’t be the same. Carve out Necromorph however you want with your trusty engineering tool of death.
