Modern Warfare 2’s gameplay has been leaked, confirming many new game mechanics. Here’s everything we know about it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the most anticipated game of 2022. The game has an unmatched hype as the previous titles, BOCW and Vanguard, failed to live up to player expectations. It will be the direct sequel of its predecessor, MW (2019).
Most hyped games are almost always leaked online, which adds to the community’s expectations. It seems like MW2 won’t be an exception. Thanks to 3rbbcod, we could take a peek at what’s coming and the new mechanics included in MW2.

Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Leaks Overview
Rope and Grapple Gameplay
A leaker was able to post the tower campaign mission, where the player can be seen grappling down the highrise. This newer mechanic is rumored to be a big part of the multiplayer experience.
Vehicle Mechanics
In a short clip of what seems to be a campaign mission, 3rbbcod shared a look into the vehicle mechanics. Surprisingly, from the looks of it, the vehicle mechanics seem to be the same as the one in Warzone. The vehicle can be seen swerving left and right, chasing another vehicle, confirming that the campaign will feature a chase mission similar to the previous MW titles.
New Carjacking Mechanic
In another short clip, the gameplay displays the protagonist jumping from one vehicle to another, similar to the Uncharted series’ parkour mechanics. To everyone’s surprise, this is a new mechanic which was not mentioned in any official game briefs. We can’t wait to see how this new mechanic plays out in the game and later in Warzone 2.
Swimming Mechanics
Swimming is a significant feature in MW2, with underwater fights being rampant in the campaign. The leaker showed the underwater campaign mission featuring Captain Price and Gaz. However, this feature seems to be an improved version of BOCW’s underwater combat mechanics.
New Weapon – Revamped EBR
In a recent tweet, leaker outerspaceufo has given us a peek at the EBR revamped. The EBR was present in MW (2019) and was a staple weapon in the campaign. The marksman rifle seems to be making a return with fresh reskin. However, it is still unclear whether the gun will function like its predecessor.
Unfortunately, most leaks have been deleted, with the original posters getting their accounts suspended on DMCA grounds. We’ll be sure to post updates on any other current or new leaks if they resurface.
