Briar will be released before Worlds 2023, but will she be playable? Let’s find out.
The League of Legends World Championship is a yearly international tournament that brings together the top teams from all around the world to compete for the title of World Champion. It’s the biggest tournament of the year and is usually held at the end of each year.
This year’s Worlds, Worlds 2023 starts on October 10th and ends on November 19th. Similar to the 2014 and 2018 Worlds, The League of Legends World Championship 2023 will once again be held in South Korea.
This year, twenty-two teams from around the world will compete for the Worlds 2023 championship. The event will begin on October 10th with the Play-In Stage, in which the eight lowest-ranked teams worldwide will compete for the two remaining spots in the Swiss Stage. There, they will join the fourteen teams from the four major regions, LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS.
That said, with little over two months to go, players are anticipating which teams will compete in Worlds 2023. They also look forward to seeing our newest Darkin Assassin, Naafiri, on the World stage. Many others were also hoping to see the new vampire Jungler Briar in Worlds. Unfortunately, that will not be the case.
Briar won’t be playable in Worlds 2023?
Riot Meddler, The Head of League Studio, revealed in a recent Reddit post that Briar will be released before the Worlds 2023. But Briar, on the other hand, will not be attending the event, unlike Naafiri. Though he did not explain why she will not be playable at Worlds 2023, it is most likely due to balance issues.
Since the 2019 Pantheon incident, Riot has been reluctant to allow newly released champion or reworks at major tournaments. She won’t be available at the event since she will be released close to Worlds 2023.
