A new report circulating on social media claims that Bluepoint Games was pitching a Bloodborne remake before the studio was ultimately shut down by Sony in early 2026. The claim comes amid growing discussion about the future of PlayStation’s remake strategy and the collapse of several internal projects tied to Bluepoint.

The report has reignited fan frustration following the confirmed closure of the Austin-based developer, which had built a strong reputation through acclaimed remakes such as Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.

Bluepoint Reportedly Pitched a Bloodborne Remake Before Closure

According to a report by DetectiveSeeds, a small team at Bluepoint allegedly spent several months working on a pitch for a Bloodborne remake. The project was reportedly never officially greenlit and was eventually pulled during internal negotiations.

Additional claims suggest that Bluepoint believed the remake could become its next major project. However, internal complications between Sony and FromSoftware, as well as shifting corporate priorities, reportedly prevented it from moving forward.

While these details remain unconfirmed by Sony, the idea that a Bloodborne remake may never happen has gained traction following the studio’s closure and the cancellation of multiple internal projects.

Sony’s Live Service Pivot and Project Cancellations

Bluepoint’s shutdown followed a broader shift within PlayStation toward live service titles in recent years. The studio had previously been working on a multiplayer God of War project that was canceled in 2025 after missing key milestones.

After that cancellation, Bluepoint reportedly pitched several new ideas and remake projects but struggled to secure approval. Industry reporting indicates that Sony rejected some remake proposals due to uncertainty over their commercial potential.

Sony later confirmed that the studio would close following a business review, with around 70 developers impacted by the decision.

Bluepoint’s Legacy as a Remake Specialist

Founded in 2006, Bluepoint became widely known for delivering high-quality remasters and remakes of beloved PlayStation titles. Its portfolio includes Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Shadow of the Colossus, and the PlayStation 5 launch title Demon’s Souls.

The studio was acquired by Sony in 2021 with expectations that it would develop new projects alongside remakes. However, after several canceled initiatives and shifting internal priorities, Bluepoint never released a new title under Sony before being shut down.

The closure sparked backlash across the gaming community, with many fans arguing that Bluepoint’s expertise in remakes could have been better utilized on classic PlayStation franchises.

The reported Bloodborne remake pitch has intensified speculation about the franchise’s future. With Bluepoint now closed and no official remake announced, the likelihood of a modernized version of the 2015 classic appears increasingly uncertain.

While the report provides new alleged details about internal pitches and canceled concepts, Sony has not confirmed any Bloodborne remake plans. As of writing, the game remains one of the most requested PlayStation revivals, and Bluepoint’s closure has only made those hopes feel more distant.
