New Blitzcrank changes just dropped in the PBE server; let us see how significant they are.
Blitzcrank is one of the most iconic champions in League of Legends. He was released in 2009 and is over ten years old.
Being such an old champion, he has a straightforward gameplay pattern, hook an enemy champion, knock them up and kill the enemy with your teammates. Although, despite not having flashy gameplay like other hook champions such as Thresh and Pyke, his simple kit makes Blitzcrank enjoyable to play.
In recent years, he has been lacking behind other support champions in terms of pick rate. This might be due to Blitzcrank’s lack of role diversity or the meta shift. Whichever it is, Riot is planning to bring him back into the meta.
Riot Games dropped some Blitzcrank changes to the Patch 12.19 PBE (Public Beta Environment) server. And we believe the changes are significant and will help Blitzcrank’s pick rate.
Now let us see in detail what these changes are and how they will affect our beloved Iron Golem.

- Attack speed ratio increased from 0.625 to 0.7

- Static Field (R)
- Passive AP ratio increased from 30% flat to 30% to 50%
- No longer capped at 3 stacks
The Overdrive (W) changes are pretty decent as Blitzcrank receives 10 percent more attack speed for free level one. He also gets 30 percent more attack speed if the ability is maxed. In addition, Blitzcrank W will now also deal max health magic damage to jungle monsters.
The Power Fist (E) gets additional AP and AD scaling along with more damage to monsters. The changes are good, as it makes his late game better.
Static Field (R) passive is getting more AP scaling, but the most significant changes are the uncapped stacks. Uncapped stacks will allow Blitzcrank to do more overtime damage and help him duel enemies more reliably. This will help top-lane Blitzcrank quite a bit.
The Blitzcrank changes are primarily geared towards making him into a Toplaner/Jungler, but it will also help support Blitzcrank.
Release Date
The Blitzcrank changes are currently on the PBE for testing. And the complete changes should hit the live servers on League of Legends patch 12.19, scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
