Spirit Transformation allows you to transform into Spirits and use their powerful moves for a limited time. But you cannot absorb them immediately, as you need to obtain the ability to absorb Spirits. Trying to absorb spirits (the blue flame) before getting this ability will show “Cannot absorb Spirits without guidance”. So how do you unlock or obtain this guide? How To Unlock Spirit Transformation
Defeat the Yaoguai King, Lingxuzi in Guanyin Temple to unlock Bamboo Grove.
After you arrive at the Snake Trail shrine in Bamboo Grove, go up the stairs to find an old man. Talk to him and he will grant you the ability to absorb Spirits and thus use Spirit Transformation to use their abilities in battle.
How To Absorb and Use Spirits for Spirit Transformation
Absorb Spirits by picking up the blue flame/soul drops after defeating optional or mini-bosses, mainly Yaoguai Kings/Chiefs. You can equip these Spirits in your inventory to use them in battle.
Using them transforms you into the Spirits themselves and lets you use their abilities for a short time. The Spirit also grants passive skills.
The first Spirit drop you encounter is the Wandering Wight but since it appears before you can unlock the ability to absorb them, you have to back-track to obtain it.
