What are the best matchups in the Round One of the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage? Let’s find out.

One of the biggest Esports events of the year, the League of Legends World Championship 2023, has finally begun. Starting October 10, we got to see eight of the best minor region teams and LEC fourth seed fight for the final two spots at the Swiss stage.

The Play-Ins was a hard-fought battle between the eight teams, but in the end, LEC’s Fourth Seed, Team BDS, and VCS First Seed GAM Esports managed to advance to the Swiss stage.

Team BDS started off shaky, losing to TEAM WHALES in the first round, but they managed to climb up the losers’ bracket and reverse sweep one of the Play-Ins favorites, PSG Talon, to secure their spot. GAM Esports also started with a loss and climbed up the losers’ bracket to fight TEAM WHALES and the finals, reenacting the VCS 2023 Summer Season finals.

With the two Play-Ins teams advancing, we have the required 16 teams for the Swiss stage. The Swiss stage will begin on October 19, and only Eight teams will be advancing to the Knockout Stage.

Best Matchups of Swiss Stage Round 1

Round one of the Swiss stage will have a total of eight matches. Although all the matches will be exciting in their own right, we believe that three of these matches would be most exciting. These matches are Cloud9 vs. MAD Lions, G2 Esports vs. Dplus Kia, and Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank vs. KT Rolster.

Cloud9 vs MAD Lions

Cloud9 vs. MAD Lions will be a resurgence of the classic NA vs. EU rivalry as the NA second seed will be going up against the LEC third seed.

It’s going to be a very interesting match as both these are very comparable in power level. Not only that, the former Cloud9 Mid-Laner Yasin ‘Nisqy’ Dinçer will be going head-to-head against his former team. The Jungle matchup will be interesting as well, seeing two of the best Junglers in their respective going head to head.

Match Time: October 19, 6 a.m. GMT

G2 Esports vs Dplus Kia

We have yet another battle between two rivals in the form of G2 Esports vs Dplus Kia.

Their rivalry started with the 2019 Worlds, where G2 beat then Damwon Gaming 3-1. Since then, these two teams have been trying to one-up one another. Although G2 has been on the loser’s side of matchups for the last few years, this time, G2 is looking very strong.

Match Time: October 19, 9 a.m. GMT

Bilibili Gaming Pingan Bank vs KT Rolster

The second seed of LPL will be going up against the third seed of LCK. Both these teams are looking pretty strong and are similar in strength. So, it will be very interesting to see who would take the win.

Match Time: October 19, 12 p.m. GMT
