Every ally you can recruit in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Combat makes up a large portion of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, as you might expect. However, the majority of the time, combat will find you outnumbered.
Thankfully, Naoe and Yasuke have the tools and abilities to tilt the scales in their favor. Moreover, you can recruit several allies to your cause, each with unique abilities that can further help you during combat.
Longtime players of the franchise will remember this mechanic from Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. However, the ally system is more fleshed out in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
You’ll meet various interesting characters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the allies you can recruit are no different.
As you progress through the main story, you’ll meet 6 allies, each with their own backstories and abilities.

All Recruitable Allies
Yaya

- Introduction Quest:
- The Fatherless Monk.
- Recruited After:
- The Stray Dogs quest in Izumi Settsu.
- This quest is unlocked after killing The Wounded/Wada Koretake
- The Stray Dogs quest in Izumi Settsu.
- Recruited by:
- Naoe or Yasuke.
- Abilities:
- (Novice) Rikishi – Active: Yaya is summoned and performs pushback attacks on enemies.
- (Initiate) Oshitaoshi – Passive: Yaya knocks an enemy over when entering combat.
- (Veteran) Inner Strength – Passive: Yaya kicks enemies and send them flying.
Ibuki

- Introduction Quest:
- Ambush Interrupted.
- Recruited After:
- Homecoming quest.
- Make sure to pick the “Fight with us, Kyobei” dialogue option when you’re given the option to.
- Homecoming quest.
- Recruited by:
- Yasuke.
- Abilities:
- (Novice) Petals in the Wind – Active: Ibuki is summoned and performs impact attacks.
- (Initiate) Strike of the Ronin – Passive: Ibuki destroys the armor of nearby enemies when entering combat.
- (Veteran) Blade of Fujin – Passive: Ibuki uses Strike of the Ronin often in combat.
Oni-yuri

- Introduction Quest:
- Sweet Lies.
- Recruited After:
- Sweet Revenge quest.
- Choose “I will show you” when the dialogue option appears
- Sweet Revenge quest.
- Recruited by:
- Naoe or Yasuke.
- Abilities:
- (Novice) Sleep Dart – Active: Oni-yuri puts an enemy to sleep.
- (Initiate) Increased Dosage – Passive: Releases a poisonous cloud which applies the poison buildup to nearby enemies.
- (Veteran) Poison the Rations – Passive: Reinforcements are delayed when called in by enemies.
Gennojo

- Introduction Quest:
- The Missing Missive.
- Recruited After:
- The Godless Harvest quest.
- Reply with “I’m all in” after delivering the scroll to Gennojo during Honor Among Thieves.
- Choose to soothe Gennojo at the end of The Godless Harvest and say “We make a good team”.
- The Godless Harvest quest.
- Recruited by:
- Naoe
- Abilities:
- (Novice) Mischievous Sabotage – Active: Gennojo throws a stunning bomb that temporarily startles enemies.
- (Initiate) Over Here! – Passive: Gennojo throws a stunning bomb at an enemy just before they detect you and start attacking, giving you a chance to escape or assassinate them.
- (Veteran) Charming Presence – Passive: Enemy servants don’t inform enemy soldiers of crimes they see.
Katsuhime

- Introduction Quest:
- Showdown in Sakamoto.
- Recruited After:
- The Diary of Lady Rokkaku quest.
- Rescue Katsuhime when she is shot and ask her to join you near the end of the quest.
- The Diary of Lady Rokkaku quest.
- Recruited by:
- Naoe or Yasuke.
- Abilities:
- (Novice) Teppodo – Active: Katsuhime is summoned and performs daze attacks on enemies.
- (Initiate) Explosive Entrance – Passive: Katsuhime throws a dazing bomb when entering combat.
- (Veteran) Bullet Ricochet – Passive: Bullets that hit a dazed enemy will bounce and hit another enemy.
Yagoro

- Introduction Quest:
- A Blade in the Dark.
- Recruited After:
- A Blade in the Dark quest.
- To unlock this quest, you need to assassinate all 12 Shinbakufu targets.
- After you defeat the samurai at Juyjin Courtyard, invite Yagoro to join the League.
- A Blade in the Dark quest.
- Recruited by:
- Naoe or Yasuke.
- Abilities:
- (Novice) Assassinate – Active: Yagoro instantly kills an enemy with three or fewer health chunks.
- (Initiate) Chain Assassination – Passive: Yagoro can assassinate an extra enemy.
- (Veteran) One with Death – Passive: Yagoro can now assassinate enemies with up to five health chunks.
