With Worlds approaching in under a month’s time, we are going to talk about the format, schedule, etc, for the tournament.
We are at the last stages of the LoLEsports calendar year, as Worlds 2023 will be starting in under a month. We still have one more update to look forward to in Patch 13.19 to see what’s in store for us at League of Legends Esports’ biggest tournament.
Before we get to Worlds 2023, we have the Asian Games 2022 in September. It was delayed due to various issues like COVID and such, and it is finally being held this year. Thus, Worlds 2023 was delayed to allow players to represent their national teams for pride and glory.
So, in this article, we will talk about all we know about League of Legends at Asian Games 2022 and such. Let’s jump right into it.

Location
The 19th Asian Games is set to be hosted in Hangzhou, China. All the games will be hosted in the Hangzhou Esports Center from September 25 to 29.
Teams
There are expected to be 20 teams in the tournament, but only 11 teams are confirmed thus far. Thus, here they are as follows in accordance to qualified for which stage.

Knockouts Stage Participants

Format
Let’s first talk about the format. Based on what we know so far, League of Legends at Asian Games 2022 will be held in Patch 13.12. It is a pretty dated patch, but one most pro players will be practicing on. Besides that, we will have a Groups and Knockouts Stage.
Groups Stage
For now, there are expected to be multiple groups of teams. However, the number of teams confirmed so far is 7 for the Groups, with an expected 13 teams in total. Four teams are expected to pull out from the tournament.
There will be 4 groups, so all the participating teams will divided into groups. All of the games will be best of ones. It is unclear which teams are in which group, so that will be something to wait for as we countdown to the tournament.
The Groups Stage games will be held over the two days of September 25 and 26.
Knockouts Stage
Each Group Winner will advance to the Knockouts Stage, and the four teams that performed best in the Road to Asian Games will be directly qualified for the Knockouts Stage. So, in total, 8 teams will play in a single elimination bracket, and all of the games will be best of 3s.
The winner will take home the prize for national glory and pride. Also, the Knockouts Stage games will be held from September 27 to 29.
