Respawn has rolled out a new Apex Legends update on April 10, 2026, and while it is not a massive content patch, it does clean up a few frustrating issues that players noticed after the recent midseason changes. The update fixes reactive skins in and out of the firing range, clears up a strange interaction between Wraith and Gibraltarโs electrified dome, and also tones down the Hemlok Breach AR after player feedback and internal data showed it was performing a little too well.
The Hemlok changes will probably get the most attention. Respawn says the weaponโs recoil felt a bit too smooth and its hipfire was overperforming, so the team has now increased both horizontal and vertical recoil while also increasing hipfire spread. In other words, the gun should feel less laser-like and a lot less forgiving in close-range scrambles.
Apex Legends fixes the Wraith and Gibraltar dome stun bug
One of the headline fixes in this update focuses on Wraithโs tactical interaction with Gibraltarโs new Thunder Dome. The corrected update text now states that Wraith, while cloaked, will no longer be stunned by Gibraltarโs electrified dome. That clarification mattered because the original wording caused confusion and made it sound like Wraith might be taking dome damage while in the void, which Respawn later corrected in the same thread.
That is an important distinction. Wraithโs identity has always been tied to slipping out of danger and repositioning through the void, so players immediately pushed back when the first version of the message sounded inconsistent with how her kit is supposed to work. Respawn later confirmed it was a communication issue, not a design shift, and adjusted the wording accordingly.
Hemlok recoil nerf arrives after strong early performance
The other big part of this patch is the Hemlok nerf. Respawn specifically adjusted the weapon by increasing its recoil in both directions and widening its hipfire spread. According to the developer note, the gun had become a little too easy to control, and its close-range effectiveness was stronger than intended.
That change makes sense in the context of the current season. The Hemlok Breach AR was introduced in the recent Aftershock Event and Midseason Patch, where Respawn described it as the first fully automatic silenced weapon in Apex Legends, complete with a secondary Breach Charge fire mode for blowing through hardlight setups and placeable abilities. With that much utility and firepower packed into one weapon, it was always going to be watched closely.
Now it looks like Respawn decided it needed to come back down a bit before it became a bigger balance problem.
The reactive skins bug also gets fixed
Alongside the Wraith and Hemlok changes, Respawn also fixed an issue where reactive skins were not working properly in and outside of the firing range. It is a smaller note compared to the gameplay balance changes, but it is still the kind of fix players appreciate, especially when premium cosmetics are not behaving the way they should.
This patch may be small, but it is the kind of maintenance update that can have a real impact on how the game feels from match to match. The Wraith and Gibraltar fix removes a weird interaction that did not feel right, while the Hemlok tuning should make one of the gameโs hottest weapons a little less oppressive.
More importantly, it shows Respawn is still reacting quickly to player feedback around the midseason rollout. The Aftershock update already brought major legend changes for Wraith, Gibraltar, and Wattson, plus the new Hemlok Breach AR, so it is not surprising that a follow-up balance pass landed soon after.
