Apex Legends hit its lowest daily peak number of players today in Season 17. Since the start of the new season, 200k PC players have left the game.

The launch of Apex Legends Season 17 was a success. The developers released Ballistic, reworked the Firing Range, and introduced new in-game features like Evac Tower and weapon mastery.

Moreover, a serious overhaul of the ranked system was made with the Season 17 update. Although the ranked changes looked good on paper, the reality was quite different than anticipated. According to the community, Season 17 is the worse rank season in history.

The new season started with a great spike in the player base. Yet, the total number of players is steadily decreasing every week. The new season started with daily peak players of 584,294 on Steam. And just one month after, on June 13, Apex’s daily peak players on Steam were recorded at 369,712.

Daily Peak Players Dropped by 200k

The Apex Legends population is divided into casual and ranked players. Due to the ranked reset, tons of players started to grind ranked at the beginning of the new season, causing a massive spike in the peak daily players.

However, the new ranked season feels bland and boring because of the new system. So, despite grinding at the beginning, most ranked players have left playing ranked after reaching their desired ranks.

On the other hand, Apex Legends hasn’t added any new content to the game since the seasonal launch. Unsurprisingly, the casual player base is also slowly losing interest in the game. As a result, despite the season’s successful release, the player base steadily declined with time.

Season 17 was released on May 9. Two days after, the game hit its highest daily peak players number of 584,294 on Steam. Since then, the game saw a steady decline in daily players’ highest peak number. And just after one month, the game’s daily peak players dropped by 200,000, a huge and concerning number. It is expected that the number will keep decreasing before the season ends.

Usually, there’s always a positive correlation between new content drop and an increasing number of players in Apex Legends. This is also one of the reasons why Apex is losing its player base in Season 17.

Hopefully, Respawn will drop new content soon enough that’ll bring the game back to life. There are already leaks regarding the upcoming Heirloom and a Legend’s potential rework. So, if these things come into the game, the overall player base will become active once again.
