Apex Legends might soon release a monthly subscription service, according to a recent EA survey.

Apex Legends is in its 23rd season, and the consensus around the game is nowhere near what it was even a year ago today. While the new season brought some much-needed changes, the overall player number suggests player retention has not been smooth sailing for this once-top franchise of EA.

In a recent survey, targeted toward the core Apex Legends player base, EA asked if the player base would be interested in a monthly subscription service that would reward players with exclusive skins, battle pass tiers, banners, premium currency, and more.

Monthly Subscription Service

This type of monthly subscription service isn’t exactly new in this live service space as Fortnite has something similar called Fortnite Crew, which costs around 9.99$ per month. For this amount, players receive currency, battle pass tiers, and exclusive cosmetic items such as skins.

EA wants more ways to monetize the Apex franchise as it didn’t meet its revenue target. Consequently, a monthly subscription service could be the solution for EA to maintain current server costs and innovate new core experiences for future seasons.

While it is only a suggestion from a survey and not an official announcement from EA, there is still a high chance that some form of new monetization scheme will be introduced in the near future.
