Apex Legends: How to Invite and Cross-play with Friends

No matter whether you and your friends playing Apex Legends on Consoles or PC, you can play together through its cross-play option.

Apex Legends started its journey without the cross-play options. So, PC, and Console players could not get into the same lobby and queue together. Many players were upset because they played on different platforms and couldn’t play together although it was the same game.

However, in Season 7, Apex Legends integrated the cross-play option. Additionally, Respawn officially released Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch. So, now Playstation, XBOX, and Nintendo Switch players can play Apex Legends together using cross-play. But before that, you need to turn on cross-play.

How to Turn On Cross-play

In Steam and Origin, the Cross-play will automatically be turned on and you won’t have any option to disable it. To turn on cross-play on Playstation, XBOX, and Nintendo Switch, follow these steps:

1. Go to the lobby.
2. Click the cogwheel (Game Menu) in the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. Click Settings.
4. Scroll down to Cross Platform Play.
5. Click Enabled to turn it on, and Disabled to turn it off.

What Platforms are Cross-play On?

Cross-play for Apex Legends is supported on the following platforms:

• Origin
• Steam
• PlayStation
• Xbox
• Nintendo Switch

How to Add Friends in Apex Legends (PC, PS, XBOX, Nintendo Switch)

After you enable cross-play, you can now team up with friends on all platforms where Apex Legends is available.

1. Go to the Friends menu.
2. Click Find Friend.
3. Type in their EA Public ID. You can also go to your Privacy Settings and change how players can search you by going to Allow users to search for me by and checking:
   • Email address
   • PSN™ Online ID for PlayStation 4 and 5
   • Xbox Live® gamertag for Xbox One and X|S
   • Nintendo Nickname for Nintendo Switch

Your friend will get an invite where they can accept, reject, or block your request. Once they accept your request, you can play duos, triples, or Arenas together like normal.

When you’re in the friends’ menu, you can also see what platform each of your friends is playing on based on the icon next to their name.

There you go! Not so hard as you thought, right? Now you can play with your friends no matter which platform you guys are on. However, keep in mind that, when you cross-play, you’ll only play in PC lobbies’ servers.
