Respawn Entertainment has rolled out a new Apex Legends legend balance update, bringing meaningful changes to Fuse while making a small adjustment to Octane. The patch focuses on improving Fuseโs offensive potential and addressing Octaneโs recent dominance in fights.
These changes aim to rebalance the legend meta and ensure that abilities remain impactful without becoming oppressive in competitive matches.
Fuse Receives Major Buffs in Latest Apex Legends Patch
Fuse is the biggest winner of this balance update. The explosive specialist has struggled with consistency in recent seasons, especially after earlier ability adjustments. Respawn appears to be addressing those concerns with several buffs to both his Tactical and Ultimate abilities.
Fuseโs Tactical ability has had its duration reverted to its pre Season 28 state, increasing the duration from roughly two seconds back to around four seconds. This change allows Fuse to hold space longer and pressure enemies more effectively during fights.

His Ultimate ability has also been improved with multiple adjustments designed to make it faster and more reliable. The pullout time for the Ultimate has been reduced by around twenty five percent, allowing players to deploy it much quicker during combat.
The delay between explosive waves inside the Ultimate has also been reduced, making the damage output more immediate. In addition, the delay before the breach charge triggers explosives has been shortened. Respawn has also added four additional explosives while slightly adjusting their velocity and randomness to create a more chaotic and dangerous zone.

These changes are intended to make Fuseโs abilities feel more impactful and reduce situations where enemies escape the damage area too easily. Developers previously noted that adjustments to Fuse were aimed at improving reliability and area control.
Octane Receives a Small Adjustment
While Fuse received several buffs, Octane sees a smaller change in this update.
The main update affects the description of Octaneโs Stim ability. The description has been updated to accurately reflect the speed values provided by the ability.
In addition, the Fortified status has been removed from Stim Surge interactions. This adjustment follows previous balance discussions around Octaneโs strong win rates and high pick rate in the current meta. Developers previously stated that Octane had been winning fights at a rate they considered unhealthy, leading to targeted nerfs to the strongest parts of his kit.
Overall, this change slightly reduces Octaneโs durability during aggressive pushes while maintaining his mobility-focused playstyle.
Impact on the Apex Legends Meta
The latest legend balance update could have noticeable implications for the Apex Legends meta.
Fuseโs buffs make him a stronger zoning legend, particularly in tight spaces or endgame circles. Longer tactical pressure and more explosive Ultimate damage mean teams may find it harder to escape his area denial.
At the same time, Octaneโs adjustment slightly tones down one of the most aggressive legends in the game. Without the extra durability during Stim usage, Octane players may need to play more carefully when pushing enemies.
While the update does not drastically overhaul the meta, it reinforces Respawnโs ongoing approach to incremental balance changes. By improving underperforming legends and tuning dominant ones, the developers continue to refine gameplay in both casual and competitive environments.
As always, player feedback and performance data will likely determine whether further adjustments arrive in future Apex Legends patches.
