Abundance

Characters who follow the Path of Abundance utilize healing skills to keep their allies alive and healthy. They are essential in most team comps battles to keep the opposition from wiping out the team.

The Abundance characters are the most straightforward and easy to play with. Characters who follow this path are essentially healers who can heal allies and restore health points to the team. They have one damage-dealing ability, but they are pretty insufficient in combat.

There are currently five playable characters in Honkai: Star Rail, who follow the Path of Abundance.

  • Bailu (5-star, Lightning)
  • Huohuo (5-star, Wind)
  • Luocha ( 5-star, Imaginary)
  • Lynx (4-star, Quantum)
  • Nathasha (4-star, Physical)

Destruction

Characters who follow the Path of Destruction are damage dealers who can deal massive damage while having enough tankiness to stay on the field even after taking enemy hits. Because they can tank attacks from the enemies in combat, they can last longer in battle.

Destruction characters can deal damage to both single-target and AoE damage to enemies. Characters who walk the Path of Destruction are often considered the best damage dealers in Honkai: Star Rail. Because these characters can deal massive damage to Single-target enemies, they are good against Boss enemies.

There are currently eight playable characters in Honkai: Star Rail who follow the Path of Destruction.

  • Arlan (4-star, Lightning)
  • Blade (5-star, Wind)
  • Clara (5-star, Physical)

Erudition

Characters that follow the Path of Erudition possess great abilities to deal massive AoE or Area of Effect damage. They excel when you are facing a large number of enemies. Erudition characters are best at multi-targeting enemies and can distribute the damage between the enemies on the field.

Characters of this Path can use their abilities to deal massive damage to multiple enemies on a single turn. Because these characters are suitable for multiple enemies, they are often not good for single-target enemies. So, using these characters against Boss fights will be difficult for many players.

Six playable characters in Honkai: Star Rail follow the Path of Erudition.

  • Argenti (5-star, Physical)
  • Herta (4-star, Ice)
  • Himeko (5-star, Fire)
  • Jing Yuan (5-star, Lightning)

Harmony

Characters that follow the Path of Harmony can buff the characters in your party. Characters who walk this path are great support characters who can buff other characters, sometimes boosting their attacks or critical damage. These buffs will strengthen the characters in combat and sometimes change the battle’s outcome.

These characters are usually paired with characters of other Paths, such as Erudition, Hunt, and Destruction, so they can be buffed to deal more damage. Characters of the Harmony Path are important if you are fighting against a strong Boss or in endgame content like Forgotten Hall or Simulated Universe.

  • Asta (4-star, Fire)
  • Bronya (5-star, Wind)
  • Hanya (4-star, Physical)
  • Ruan Mei (5-star, Ice)
  • Tingyun (4-star, Lightning)
  • Yukong (4-star, Imaginary)

Hunt

Characters who follow the Path of Hunt are damage-dealing characters who can deal damage to single-target enemies. These characters are good against Bosses and Elite enemies and can deal extraordinary amounts of single-target damage.

The main difference between characters in Paths of Hunt and Destruction is that Hunt characters can bring out massive damage compared to characters in Destruction. However, characters who walk the Path of Destruction come out on top because they are useful against any enemies if you are willing to ignore the massive damage numbers.

There are currently five playable characters in Honkai: Star Rail, who follow the Path of Hunt.

  • Dan Heng (4-star, Wind)
  • Seele (5-star, Quantum)

Nihility

Characters who walk the Path of Nihility are support characters who use debuffs to weaken enemies. These debuffs will inflict negative status on enemies, which will cripple or sometimes immobilize them during combat. These debuffs are a massive advantage in combat, allowing damage-dealing characters to finish the battle quickly.

Characters of the Nihility Path can debuff enemies with Resistance shred, immobilizing and making them vulnerable to take more damage. Using characters of the Nihility Path will help you weaken enemies during combat in the later stages in Simulated Universe or Forgotten Hall.

There are six playable characters of the Path of Nihility in Honkai: Star Rail.

  • Luka (4-star, Physical)
  • Pela (4-star, Ice)

Preservation characters are really important because of how well they can tank damage during battle and keep your party from dying. Characters like Gepard can provide a tough shield during combat, while Fu Xuan can deal damage and protect you from enemy attacks.
