All New Game Modes in Modern Warfare 2
The Season 3 update will introduce four new game modes to the current playlist of MW2. Here are all the new and returning game modes in MW2:
Gunfight (At Launch)
Gunfight is a 2v2 game mode on a small map similar to Gulag. Players can queue up for the game mode with a duo or solo. The game mode is fast-paced, with no perks or other in-game items.
The players are given random guns each round combined with random tactical and lethal. Both teams are put on a level playing field in a 90-second match. The first team to get five rounds wins the game.
GW Infected (In Season)
Ground War infected is the usual infected on a large-scale map. The objective of the game mode is the same; players who are infected must infect other players to win the game mode. The uninfected ones must survive being affected to win the game.
Cranked (At Launch)
Cranked was first added to the CoD series with Call of Duty Ghosts. Later, the game mode returned in MW (2019) and BOCW (2020). Cranked is a hybrid game mode that takes a team deathmatch and amps up the intensity by putting a countdown on any player who earns an elimination. The points provided are cranked by 1, with points for each kill.
Face Off (In-Season)
Face-off is a 3v3 game mode similar to Gunfight. The game mode was previously seen in MW (2019). However, the game mode will be added with the mid-season update.
All new and returning game modes will arrive on day one and in-season with the Season 3 update for MW2. Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 is scheduled to live on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT. The update will go live on all platforms at the same time.
