AION 2 has pulled in a huge launch crowd. According to NC America, the free-to-play MMORPG surpassed 400,000 concurrent players on Steam shortly after launch and reached number one across three of the platformโs charts. That gives its opening week plenty of momentum as players head into Atreia.
In brief:
- NC America reports more than 400,000 concurrent Steam players following launch.
- AION 2 topped Top Sellers, Popular New Releases, and Trending Free.
- The publisher says it led the sales charts globally and in 15 territories following Early Access.
- The War For Atreia creator event continues through October 14.
AION 2 Takes Number One Across Three Steam Charts

At the time of NC Americaโs announcement, AION 2 held first place on Steamโs Top Sellers, Popular New Releases, and Trending Free charts simultaneously. Top Sellers ranks games by revenue, giving the free-to-play MMO a strong commercial milestone alongside its player count.
Early Access opened on September 30. NC America says AION 2 maintained the top position on Steamโs Global Top Sellers chart from that point, alongside first-place rankings in 15 territories. Those markets included Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The reported concurrency figure represents players online at the same time. It gives a snapshot of the launch rush, with hundreds of thousands jumping into the game together.
War For Atreia Event Runs Through October 14
NC is keeping its launch campaign going with War For Atreia, a creator competition featuring 60 streamers from North America, Europe, and South America.
The event runs from September 30 through October 14, with participating creators competing for their factions. Viewers can also earn Twitch Drops while rostered creators are live, giving players another reason to follow the action between sessions.
AION 2 Is Free to Play on Steam and PURPLE
Players can join AION 2 through Steam or NCโs PURPLE platform. Flight is a major part of the experience, with aerial combat across PvE and PvP, underwater exploration, and a world that NC describes as 36 times larger than the original AION.
If youโve been waiting to try the sequel, free-to-play access is now available on both platforms.
