Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is the latest edition of the legendary Assassin’s Creed series. The game takes us back to the root of the game and explores the lives of the protagonists we have been playing until now. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage provides the players with an extraordinary narrative of the game. Although the game is shorter than most other editions, it does not lag behind in terms of enriched stories.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a prequel to another Assassin’s Creed game called Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Mirage shows us the life story of Basim, whom we first found in the previous release of the series. Throughout the game, we can see the events that led to the version of Basim we witnessed in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. In this guide, we will explain everything you need to understand about the ending of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

What Happens at the End of Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Face the Head of the Snake

In the closing scene of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage chapter, Basim travels to the Palace of the Green Dome to eliminate the Head of the Snake, also known as Al-Bahamut, who is the leader of the Order. After having a confrontation with Al-Bahamut, Basim discovers that the head of the group turns out to be Qabiha, the wife of the Caliph whom Nehal had previously killed in the prologue.
The plot of the narrative takes an unexpected turn when Qabiha explains to Basim that he is more than what he knows about himself. In addition to this, she advises him to investigate a room buried under the Alamut Castle in order to learn the truth about himself. However, Qabiha is put to death by Basim’s master, Roshan, before she can impart any more information to Basim. Roshan further warns Basim of death if he follows the path that Qabiha just told her.
Basim Discovers His True Identity

Basim, who is upset with Roshan, takes the decision to disobey her commands and, accompanied by Nehal, travels to the chamber located under Alamut castle. Roshan, however, prevents them from entering the room before they ever have a chance to do so. Basim eventually prevails against Roshan and is able to enter the chamber after the two of them engage in a brutal battle with each other.
As soon as we go inside the temple, it is immediately obvious to all of us that we are in an Isu chamber, which is a location that has appeared in a number of previous Assassin’s Creed games up to this point. After coming near the central chamber, Nehal shows Basim how to open the doors. Soon after opening the door of the chamber, they come across a sarcophagus. Basim opens the sarcophagus and finds something unexpected inside it.
Following the opening of the sarcophagus, Basim discovers Nehal inside it. As a result of this, he realizes that Nehal was never a genuine person, but rather, it was only another side of Basim that he had carried over from a previous incarnation. So, throughout the game, whatever we saw Nehal doing, was actually being done by Basim.
Now, Nehal has emerged once more alongside Basim, showing him a holographic image that depicts a guard torturing a prisoner in the very location where they are standing right now. This brings up a lot of memories for Basim from his previous existence, and he finally understands that the Jinni that has been haunting him is the villainous guard and that the guy who is on the ground is really Basim. Basim is eventually able to recover a significant number of memories from his past and finally makes the decision to embrace it. At long last, we are able to see Basim and Nehal fusing into a single, transformed individual.
This is where the story gets a bit confusing and starts to relate with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which takes place some years after this incident. In Valhalla, we can see Basim as Loki. And the current event we just witnessed might mean that Nehal is actually Loki’s reincarnation through the Isu technology Yggdrasil.
Is there any Secret Ending or NG+ in AC Mirage?
After the scene ends, Basim comes out of the temple and instantly gets back to the Hidden Ones. However, Roshan decides not to accept him and resigns from her own position. Basim is now a completely different person, with all the power and memories of Loki inside him. This becomes very evident when Basim’s eagle, Enkidu, does not recognize him and flies away instead of sitting on Basim’s hand.
So to say it another way, there is no secret ending in Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. After you are done with finding Basim’s truth, you will again go back to Baghdad, and you can keep on exploring the city further. You can keep doing extra activities around the city, but the main storyline would not get extended beyond this point.
