How to Defeat Armored Enemies in A Plague Tale: Requiem
The big guys in the armored suit will start showing up from Chapter 6: Leaving all behind. In the sub-chapter Hunting Lesson, you will face the first one in the mission Deal with the Beast. Even though the in-game tutorial will show you a way out of it, I think you can do a lot better than that.
What you have to keep in mind is that the armor suit is actually being held up with a hook behind their back. Needless to say, if you can unhook anything, you can unhook everything. Doesn’t make sense, does it?
Never mind, use your sling to unhook that part. With that being done, the work is half done. All that is left to do is burn the big guy down with fire and tar, pierce through his chest with a crossbow, or lure them to whatever else comes into your mind. However, there is an extra catch that you should know about.
The armored enemies in A Plague Tale: Requiem comes in two forms. Let’s talk about it in detail.
Mace-Wielding
These tanks wield a flaming mace to flex. However, not a show they can put up when the hook gets unhooked.
You will face them more face to face than having the option to sneak up on them. At the very beginning, you can use Extinguish ammo with your sling or even a pot that can make him go blind. This will create the window of opportunity to get behind him, and you know the drill.
After he is exposed, let him get a taste of that crossbow of yours. You can even ignite any nearby tar jars to burn him.
Shield-Wielding
These are pretty stubborn than the mace-wielders. Your first objective will be making them drop that shield. You can start by hitting the torch they are carrying with tar. If you plan to do the job with your sling, you might want to get serious here.
Shield-wielders can shield anything that comes from their line of sight. So you better plan your strategy from the shadow. Surprise him, and he will drop his shield in no time. However, there is a chain attached to it with their shield. You must take that out as well.
And the rest of the drill is the same. Pierce through their heart or burn them alive, whatever strategy makes you feel good.
