Massive changes in Yorick’s abilities are coming in Lol patch 14.3.

Pushing waves to take turrets to exert pressure on an enemy team is known as split pushing in League of Legends. The term is used that way because the split pusher splits from the team. The idea is that when the split push happens, the other members can make plays off of that pressure.

When it comes to this strategy, Yorick is sort of an embodiment of it. Sure, Sion, Fiora, Camille, and others exist. But Yorick, in my opinion, can split push with the most effectiveness. Because on top of his good damage and CC from his kit, his ultimate summons a wraith and spawns.

Yorick has been a very stable champion in League of Legends when it comes to balance. Although he has the potential to 1v5 in good hands, he never seemed off-kilter when it comes to firepower. This is evident by his patch history that shows, before 14.1, his last change was back in 13.15. Moreover, those changes were a kind of routine balance instead of game-changing adjustments.

However, due to item changes in season 2024, the game has changed a lot. Those changes did not seem to favor Yorick very well, as he sits at a win rate even below 49%.

That’s why Riot has announced a set of big changes for Yorick to get back on the lane and push with more dominance. In this article, take a look at all the changes coming to him.

Massive Yorick Changes in Patch 14.3

All the Yorick changes for patch 14.3 are as follows:

  • Q mana cost reduced from 25 to 20
  • Q heal is no longer doubled when below 50% health
  • Q now heals an additional 4 – 8% missing health
  • Q healing is reduced by 50% against non-champions
  • E cast time reduced from .33 seconds to .25
  • E now visually arcs higher
  • Maiden mark proc cooldown removed
  • Maiden mark damage reduced from 3% – 9% max HP to 2% – 4%
  • Ghoul leash range reduced from 2000 to 1600
  • R mark damage reduced from 2% – 4% max HP to 2% – 3%
  • R mark monster damage cap reduced from 200 – 400 to 100 flat

Q mana cost reduction will help Yorick a lot in the laning phase. The removal of double healing from Q while at less than 50% health may feel like a big nerf, but the additional 4-8% heals from Q is a default now. So you can heal even when above 50% HP, that’s a very relevant buff while splitting. Q healing from non-champions is reduced, so it will encourage Yorick to take more aggressive trades with enemy champions.

E cast time will be cut by 0.08 seconds, it can be quite significant during fights where a mini-second of input can make all the difference. E will also get visual clarity in its cast VFX.

However, the biggest change of all is the removal of cooldown from Maiden proc. Usually, you can mark an enemy using the Maiden’s attacks. This mark can later be consumed by Yorick’s Q, E, or basic attacks to consume. Upon consuming, it used to heal him for 3 to 9% max HP, now it has been changed to 2% – 4%.

There used to be a 2-second cooldown on the marked target. Once marked, Yorick had to wait for another 2 seconds to mark and proc again on the same enemy. But now with the cooldown gone, Yorick can just heal off of a single target without any delay.

R mark damage has received nerf in both % max HP and a cap now exists while dealing with monsters. The reduction is quite significant here. So, Yorick’s farming ability has been axes quite a bit and power has been redirected towards skirmishes.

When Will The Yorick Changes Be Live?

All the aforementioned changes for Yorick will be initiated from Patch 14.3, scheduled for February 7, 2024.
