Sects in Where Winds Meet can entirely change how you play. Here’s a breakdown of every sect and exactly how to join them.

Sects in Where Winds Meet are special factions you can align with, each enforcing its own rules and rewarding you with unique benefits like sect shops, discounted martial arts, cosmetics, and themed playstyles. Choosing the right sect can shape your entire Jianghu identity, while ignoring sects entirely may keep you “free” but leave some rewards untapped.

This guide lists all currently known sects, summarizes their identity and rules, and explains how to join and switch sects in the 2025 version of the game.

What Are Sects in Where Winds Meet?

Sects are rule-based factions: when you join one, you agree to follow its code (precepts). Playing in line with those rules earns you reputation and rewards; breaking them can reduce your “precept value” and lock you out of some benefits.

Joining a sect can give you:

  • Access to sect shops with exclusive items and cosmetics
  • You will receive discounts for learning the martial arts specific to that sect.
  • Passive advantages if your playstyle naturally fits the rules
  • A clearer “role” or identity in Jianghu (healer, PvPer, trickster, etc.)

You can also choose to remain Sectless if you want zero restrictions, but you’ll pay more to learn martial arts and miss out on sect rewards

All Sects in Where Winds Meet

Here are all the sects in Where Winds Meet.

Well of Heaven

Members of the Well of Heaven embody the spirit of the classic tale of Robin Hood, standing apart from the “state” and the “privileged.” They leverage their talents to safeguard the vulnerable.

Main rules of the Well of Heaven

  • Unrestrained Spirit: The Sect may deduct 1,000 Precept Value Points.
  • Generous and Righteous – Weekly earnings should not be excessive; otherwise, the precept value suffers -100.
  • Brotherhood—Disciples of the same sect must not harm one another.

Silver Needle

The Healer faction. The Silver Needle is a group of wandering warriors dedicated to the art of healing and also seeking to gain funds and recognition through their noble pursuits.

Main rules of the Silver Needle

  • Shared Healing – Participation in multiplayer healing and succeeding increases precept value by 10.
  • Healing Bodies and Minds—Weekly requirement: Earn at least 15 likes; otherwise, precept value -10.

Midnight Blades

The order of warriors. The Midnight Blades exist solely for the thrill of battle, and nothing else matters. They gather karma for their victories, and they truly enjoy cultivating it.

Main rules of the Midnight Blades

  • Midnight Judgement—In Midnight Judgement, defeat Sufferers to steal their identities/karma and ascend the Asura Path.
  • Kill to Seize Karma—Defeat wanderers to gain Karma Points; being defeated deducts Karma Points.
  • Meditative Samadhi—In the open world combat, hesitate not, spare no lives.

Nine Mortal Ways

The Trickster Sect. Members of the Nine Mortal Ways revel in the art of trickery and playful banter. Stay vigilant for anything unusual, especially if someone consistently draws winning hands at the card table; they might just be part of the Nine Mortal Ways.

Main rules of the Nine Mortal Ways

  • A Thousand Faces—Participate in Disguise, blending into the Nine Mortal Ways to experience diverse lives
  • Deceiving Heaven—Failed tricks of jail time deduct Virtue by -10

Velvet Shade

A community of pleasure-seekers and compassionate souls. Members of the Velvet Shade relish in tasty drinks and great company. More is always better. As you stroll through the village, the sounds of animated chatter and the unmistakable laughter of revelers fill the air, signaling the presence of a Floral Reverie member sparking the festivities.

Main rules of the Floral Reverie

Full Bloom—Reveal charm to the world, follow your heart’s desires, and trade affection for hearts.

  • Vermilion Lips—The world is full of sorrow and suffering. Visit the Windtail Lounge to soothe hearts.
  • Drunk on Flowers—How can one only steal a single heart when drunk on a thousand flowers?

Lone Cloud

The sect of the trick sword. Adherents of the Lone Cloud aspire to master the most challenging sword techniques. So focused are they on their goal that they will resort to questionable tactics to stay afloat while they continue to master the art of the sword.

Main rules of the Lone Summit

Forgotten by the Jianghu—Lone Cloud disciples rebonding must seek old comrades’ blessings.

  • The riddle of love—love’s riddle is life’s hardest. Solve it only once.
  • Streetwise Strategist – Experience get-rich-quick schemes in streets or lose precept value for -10.

Hollow Vale

The Yin-Yang Sect. Life and death should exist in harmonious equilibrium. Members of the Hollow Vale excel equally in the arts of healing and the craft of poison-making. When you encounter one of them during your time of need, flip the coin and raise your glass.

Main rules of the Heartless Vale

No Living puppets – Life and death have boundaries; playing with dream puppets is forbidden. Though Heartless Vale Disciples bear poisoned bodies, their hearts are kind. Transforming the living into dream puppets is an ironclad sect rule. Those who experiment on themselves are exempt.

  • Balance of Life and Death—Where there is life, there must be death; where there is death, there must be life. Heartless Vale’s dual sources of healing and poison must remain balanced. For every life healed, poison must be used once. Failure invites self-inflicted suffering.

Mohist Hill

The realm of knowledge. The individuals of the Mohist Hill are dedicated to the pursuit of truth. There is no greater truth than serving others equally and finding fulfillment in the act of helping those around us.

Main rules of the Mohist Hill

  • Universal Love—Love universally, benefit mutually; those who benefit others will in turn be benefited. Self-benefit and benefiting others—this is the way of goodness.

Inkbound Order

The order of scribes. Members of the Inkbound Order serve as guardians of the past, protectors of our shared legacy. Every individual, no matter their background, has the opportunity to step into the role of a scribe and contribute to the preservation of history.

Main rules of Inkford Hall:

Writing and Scholarship—Sage’s words become the law for all under heaven.

Raging Tides

The sect of spear-wielders. Members of the Raging Tide are required to wield their spears in battle daily, ensuring that their weapons remain sharp and effective. If you see a distant inland wave, be cautious; it’s not the Raging Tides approaching you.

Main rules of the Raging Tides

  • Spear Still Sharp – A sword unpolished loses its edge; a spear untested loses its lethality. Raging Tides disciples must hone their spears daily through battle, never slacking.

The Masked Troupe

The wanderer group. The members of the Liyuan Troupe embrace the art of living fully, savoring each moment and soaking in the experience. They focus on music and dance, setting aside martial arts.

Main rules of the Liyuan Troupe
