Volibear is getting some massive buffs in Patch 14.4.

The Patch 14.4 preview for League of Legends is out; from the looks of it, it is coming with some massive changes.

Starting off with the system changes, both the underwhelming Armor Penetration items, Black Cleaver and Terminus are finally getting buffed. Ravenous Hydra and Stridebreaker is getting some much-needed buffs as well. Additionally, Riot is increasing the Fountain Healing.

On the champion side, Smolder is getting some major changes, only a single patch after being released. Aurelion Sol, Brand, Varus, Zyra, and others are getting some nerfs. There are also some buffs to Ahri, Jayce, Kai’Sa, and more. This article will focus on one of those buffs, the buffs to Volibear.

As a champion, Volibear has been pretty weak since the Season 14 item changes. With the update, he lost one of his core items, Divine Sunderer. Iceborn Gauntlet also got some slight nerfs, leading to Volibear becoming relatively weak. Thus, for Patch 14.4, Riot is buffing Volibear.

Patch 14.4 Volibear Buffs

  • Q – Thundering Smash
    • Movement Speed increased from 8% – 24% to 12% – 32%
  • E – Sky Splitter
    • Cooldown reduced from 13 seconds to 12 seconds.
  • R – Stormbringer
    • Cooldown reduced from 160 – 120 seconds to 130 – 100
    • Turret disable duration reduced from 3 – 5 seconds to 2 – 4
    • Crowd Control immunity removed (still remains unstoppable)

Volibear Q – Thundering Smash is getting its Movement Speed increased by quite a bit. Usually, Volibear puts three points into his Q ability to increase his chasing potential, but with the update, Volibear might not need to put extra points into the abilities.

His E – Sky Splitter is also getting its Cooldown reduced. The change should make his laner phase slightly better. Lastly, R – Stormbringer is getting its Cooldown reduced, but its Turret disable duration is going down as well.

Overall, these are some good changes and should make Volibear a viable champion.

Release Date

The aforementioned Volibear buffs are coming out in Patch 14.4, which is scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2024.
