According to a leak from ValorLeaks on X, Patch 11.08 could see the signature recharge time for Initiator agents increase from 40 seconds to 60 seconds. This potential change has already stirred discussion in the VALORANT community about its impact on gameplay pacing and agent roles.

What Riot Has Said (So Far)

Leaks point to big increases in cooldowns, but Riot Games has openly disputed more extreme claims, like getting rid of the “refresh utility” mechanic completely. Senior game designer Coleman Palm (Altombre) made it clear that the goal is not to get rid of ability recharges, but to change cooldowns so that players utilize their abilities more purposefully and strategically.

Why This Matters

If this is true, the leap from 40s to 60s would make Initiator players think twice before using their special skills. It makes mistakes more expensive, encourages better cooperation, and could give roles that don’t rely on refreshed utilities more power. Some people in the community say it could “nerf” the ability of Initiators to make plays.

When will this change arrive?

Players are eagerly waiting for the official notes on Patch 11.08, which is due to come out on October 14–15 (depending on where you live). They want to know if this cooldown increase is real, which agents will be affected, and if Riot will give players other alternatives. Stay tuned, as the way VALORANT is played could change again.
