Sentinel agents like Killjoy and Cypher have been nerfed quite heavily in VALORANT’s recent updates.
Now Cypher’s tripwire no longer works if he dies at the start of the round. As a result, his abilities usually don’t have that much impact on the match if gets taken out at the early stages of a round.

On top of that, other agent abilities like Jett’s dash, Raze’s Blast pack, etc can be used to efficiently deal with his tripwire. Even friendly fire can destroy ally tripwire meaning if a Raze player uses blast pack it can directly affect Cypher’s tripwire destroying them in the process.
VALORANT players who predominately play as Cypher are venting out their frustration on social media platforms as ally fire can destroy their utilities, which can affect their k/D ratio alongside the amount of assist they would normally get.
Passive Cypher buff incoming
Following so much discourse from the community, one of the devs at Riot Games quickly gave some assurance to the players that a possible passive buff to Cypher is under consideration. Basically, the devs are going to investigate if it’s just better if ally blast packs don’t interfere with Cypher’s tripwire.
