Twitch streamer Evan Gao purged all of his Twitch followers after trying to get rid of bots following his Twitch channel.

Evan Gao is a Twitch streamer who recently had an unfortunate accident. Just a few hours ago Evan’s Twitch channel has more than 6.3k followers. But, now it has about 300. Evan lost this huge number of followers because of a mistake during his recent Just Chatting Livestream.

During his latest 21 January stream, Evan noticed that some bot accounts were following his Twitch channel. “Fake engagement is artificial inflation of channel statistics, such as views or follows, through coordination or 3rd party tools”. This is a form of fake engagement and is not permitted on Twitch.

So, Evan tried to get rid of all these fake bot followers by using Twitch Tools. This plugin allows streamers to remove followers by setting filters like account creation date, follow date, name, etc. But Evan made one key mistake when allowing the plugin to delete the bot followers.

He forgot to apply the filters which resulted in all of his all 6k+ followers getting removed. When his friend notified him of this mistake Evan’s reaction was one of disappointment and regret. He yelled, “Ohhhhhhhhhh, Dude, Dude, Are you kidding me. Is there a way to undo that?”.

But unfortunately, seems like there is no way to undo this as Evan’s current follower count is 399. His account stats from TwitchTracker.com show that on January 21st Evan lost 6.3k followers.
