Every Guardian in Throne and Liberty and the powerful abilities they possess.
As you progress in Throne and Liberty, your character will grow stronger and stronger, unlocking new skills and abilities along the way. Guardians are one such powerful ability that you’ll unlock as you progress through Throne and Liberty.
There are 7 Guardians as of now, and each of them serves a niche in combat whether it be burst damage, support, tanking, etc.
Guardians Explained
Guardians function somewhat like an Ultimate Ability. Activating it transforms your character into that Guardian and gives you access to new and powerful abilities.
This transformation lasts for 30 seconds, and moreover, has a cooldown of 10 minutes. Guardians can be very powerful tools in battle, but you have to use them strategically as their long cooldown means you’ll usually only be able to use them once or twice during battles.
In this article, we look at each Guardian in Throne and Liberty, and their abilities.
All Guardians
Vampire Slayer Ezekiel
- How to Unlock: Finish Chapter 5: A Sacred Pledge of Blood Adventure Quest.
- Skill: Vampiric Scar
- Effect: Defense increases by 400. Deals damage over time equal to 0.6% of your Max Health per second to hostile targets within a 2.5m radius. Restores Health by 20% of damage dealt to those targets.
Vampire Slayer Ezekiel gives instant survivability to any build. Ezekiel’s ability increases your defense and also deals passive damage based on your max health to enemies within a radius.
Moreover, the damage dealt restores your health as well. However, the damage dealt can be underwhelming even when used by high HP tank builds.
Brutal Warrior Valkarg
- How to Unlock: Complete the Desert Plunderer’s quest at Camel Trade south of Vienta Village
- Skill: Barbarian’s Thirst
- Effect: Accumulates damage when hit up to 4000% of your Max Base Damage. When you inflict Stun, Bind or Sleep on an enemy, 25% of that accumulated damage is dealt to that enemy.
Brutal Warrior Valkarg’s ability is made to absorb as much damage as possible and convert it to a single target attack that can dish out massive damage.
As you may have figured out, Valkarg is best suited for tanks, such as Sword and Shield builds.
Green Ranger Elowen
- How to Unlock: Complete the Elemental Tree Harvest quest in the Nesting Grounds
- Skill: Thorn Shackles
- Effect: On Summoning, has a 80% chance to Bind all enemies in a 4m radius for 5s. While Summoned, attacking any targets affected by Bind and Move Speed de-buffs will increase Melee, Ranged and Magical Critical Hit Chances by 500.
Green Ranger Elowen is best used by melee users, especially those that can attack in a wide radius such as Greatsword builds. This is because of Elowen’s ability to bind enemies within a 4 meter radius. This combined with the increased Critical Hit chances lets you deal massive amounts of burst damage.
However, make sure to equip other Binding and Speed debuffing skills to increase the period of this effect.
Lady Knight Kamershea
- How to Unlock: Complete Demon’s Test Exploration Quest in Manawastes.
- Skill: Eternal Barrier
- Effect: Creates a Shield for 50% of your maximum mana. While the Shield is up, increases Cooldown Speed by 40%. This Summon will be canceled if the Shield is removed.
Lady Knight Kamershea is a defense-oriented guardian. While the increased cooldown speed is nice, the shield is what lets this guardian excel.
Kamarshea is best used by ranged classes such as bow and staff users, as well as healers, because Kamarshea’s shield significantly increases their survivability.
Masked Warlock Dantalux
- How to Unlock: Complete The Voice Behind the Mask quest at the Sandworm Lair in Stonegard
- Skill: Abyssal Sanctuary
- Effect: When using Mana, you recover 26% of the used Mana. 53% of your nearest party member’s Mana is also recovered.
Masked Warlock Dantalux is perfect for support builds such as Healers.
It recovers your mana so you can cast more spells, and also reocvers your party members’ aura.
Thus, you can heal your allies and buff them more often, and your DPS allies can dish out even more damage.
Pale Nemesis Hartach
- How to Unlock: Complete Farewell exploration quest at the Watcher’s Post in the Ruins of Turayne
- Skill: Stealth Blade
- Effect: When an enemy target is defeated within 3 seconds, you will Hide for 5 seconds. At night, Hide time is increased to 7.5 seconds. Every first attack made while Hiding lands as a Critical Hit.
Pale Nemesis Hartach can be really deadly in the hands of a skilled Assassin build. Its ability lets you pretty much spam critical hits against groups of enemies.
The idea is to take a target to low hp, activate Hartach, kill the enemy and enter stealth, kill another enemy (using the critical hit to deal big damage), reenter stealth, and so on.
However, Hartach is pretty much useless against single target boss fights.
Shade Revenant Stheno
- How to Unlock: Finish For Whom the Bell Tolls quest at the Ruins of Turayne
- Skill: Dread Shard
- Effect: Launches 5 projectiles at random enemies within a 10m range every second. A single enemy may be hit with multiple projectiles at the same time. Each projectile deals 52% of Base Damage.
While Shadow Revenant Stheno is best suited for ranged damage dealers, it can be use by even tanks, melee builds, as well as healers.
Stheno is arguably the best offensive guardian in the game. Its skill, Dread Shard, is great against groups of enemies as well as single targets.
When facing a single enemy, all 5 projectiles will hit that one enemy, dealing huge burst damage. It can potentially one shot even the toughest enemies. Thus, it allows even support roles to have a viable offensive option.
