Finding every Gold Skulltula in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is one of the biggest challenges for players aiming for 100% completion. These golden spiders are scattered throughout Hyrule, hiding inside dungeons, behind buildings, beneath rocks, and in places you might never think to check.

The Nintendo Switch 2 remake brings back all 100 Gold Skulltulas, but several have been relocated from their original positions. Fortunately, the remake also introduces improved collectible tracking and the new Echo Gem, making it easier to hunt down any remaining spiders.

If you’re trying to collect every Gold Skulltula Token, this guide covers all 100 Gold Skulltula locations in Ocarina of Time Remake, organized by region, along with the equipment needed, whether you must play as Young or Adult Link, and every reward available at the House of Skulltula.

In Brief:

  • 100 Gold Skulltulas: There are 100 Gold Skulltula Tokens scattered across Hyrule, including overworld locations, temples, and smaller dungeons.
  • Young and Adult Link: Some Gold Skulltulas are exclusive to one timeline, while others require you to return with upgraded equipment.
  • Six reward milestones: Collect 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 100 tokens to unlock wallets, the Echo Gem, Bombchus, a Heart Piece, and repeatable Gold Rupees.
  • Remake changes: Several Gold Skulltulas have moved, and the new Echo Gem helps locate nearby spiders through light and sound.

What Are Gold Skulltulas in Ocarina of Time Remake?

Gold Skulltulas are special spider-like enemies found throughout Hyrule. Unlike ordinary Skulltulas, these creatures drop Gold Skulltula Tokens when defeated.

You can collect these tokens and bring them to the House of Skulltula in Kakariko Village, where a wealthy family has been transformed into spider-like creatures by a curse.

Collecting enough tokens gradually breaks the curse and rewards Link with valuable items.

Gold Skulltulas can be found in several places:

  • On walls, ceilings, trees, and buildings.
  • Inside breakable crates and behind destructible rocks.
  • Beneath soft soil patches that require bottled bugs.
  • Inside dungeons, often in hidden rooms.
  • In outdoor locations where they only appear at night.
  • On distant platforms that require the Hookshot, Longshot, or Magic Beans.

When you’re close to a Gold Skulltula, listen for its distinctive scratching noise.

After defeating one, remember to collect the token it drops. Killing the spider alone isn’t enough to increase your total.

All Gold Skulltula Rewards in Ocarina of Time Remake

The House of Skulltula rewards you at six collection milestones.

Tokens RequiredRewardWhat It Does
10Adult’s WalletIncreases maximum Rupee capacity to 500
20Echo GemDetects nearby Gold Skulltulas using light and sound
30Giant’s WalletIncreases maximum Rupee capacity to 1,000
4020 BombchusGives you 20 wall-climbing explosive devices
50Piece of HeartAdds one Heart Piece toward your next Heart Container
100Gold RupeeRewards 200 Rupees every time you revisit the cured father

How to Claim Gold Skulltula Rewards

To claim your rewards, travel to Kakariko Village and enter the House of Skulltula.

You’ll find it in the southern part of the village.

Inside, speak with the members of the cursed family after reaching a collection milestone.

Each milestone restores a family member and unlocks a reward.

You don’t need to exchange your tokens or worry about losing them. The game tracks your total automatically.

How to Get the Echo Gem

The Echo Gem is one of the most useful new additions to the Nintendo Switch 2 remake.

You’ll receive it after collecting 20 Gold Skulltula Tokens and returning to the House of Skulltula.

Unlike the Stone of Agony from the original game, the Echo Gem is designed specifically to help locate Gold Skulltulas.

When equipped, it reacts to nearby spiders through visual and audio cues.

The closer you get, the stronger its response becomes.

Interestingly, it can also detect locations where Gold Skulltulas only appear at night, even if you’re exploring during the day.

And for that reason, collecting your first 20 tokens early can make the rest of the hunt much easier.

How to Find All 100 Gold Skulltulas Faster

Before checking every location, there are a few things worth preparing.

Bring the Right Equipment

Many Gold Skulltulas can’t be collected immediately because Link needs specific equipment.

The most useful items include:

  • Fairy Slingshot: Defeats distant Skulltulas as Young Link.
  • Boomerang: Defeats enemies and retrieves distant tokens as Young Link.
  • Hookshot and Longshot: Reach Skulltulas and collect tokens as Adult Link.
  • Bombs: Open hidden passages and destroy rocks.
  • Megaton Hammer: Breaks large boulders blocking collectibles.
  • Bottled Bugs: Reveal Gold Skulltulas hiding beneath soft soil.
  • Magic Beans: Create platforms that Adult Link can ride to otherwise inaccessible areas.
  • Lenses of Truth: Reveal hidden passages and obstacles.
  • Scarecrow’s Song: Summons Pierre at certain locations, creating Hookshot targets.

Search at Night

Many outdoor Gold Skulltulas only appear after sunset.

If you hear scratching sounds or your Echo Gem reacts but you can’t see anything, try returning at night.

You can use the Sun’s Song to change the time of day after unlocking it.

Check the World Map

The remake adds collectible tracking to the world map, allowing you to see how many Gold Skulltulas you’ve collected in different regions.

This is particularly useful when you’re close to completing all 100.

Some areas contain Skulltulas exclusive to Young or Adult Link, so remember to check both timelines when necessary.

All 100 Gold Skulltula Locations in Ocarina of Time Remake

Below is the complete location checklist.

We’ve grouped every Gold Skulltula by region and dungeon. Each entry identifies which version of Link you need, whether the spider appears at night, and any equipment required.

The numbers are for this guide’s checklist. You can collect the tokens in a different order.

What Changed About Gold Skulltulas in the Switch 2 Remake?

Nintendo has made several changes to Gold Skulltula hunting in the Ocarina of Time remake.

Some of these adjustments make collecting every token considerably easier.

Some Gold Skulltulas Have New Locations

Several Gold Skulltulas have moved from their original Nintendo 64 and Nintendo 3DS locations.

Some now appear in different rooms or environments, meaning older guides may no longer point you toward the correct location.

For example, the remake includes a new Hyrule Field interaction where you must defeat an ordinary Skulltula as Young Link before returning to the same grotto as Adult Link to reveal its golden counterpart.

The Echo Gem Replaces the Stone of Agony

Instead of receiving the Stone of Agony at 20 tokens, you’ll unlock the Echo Gem.

This new item reacts to nearby Gold Skulltulas, providing a much more useful way to locate hidden collectibles.

The Map Tracks Gold Skulltula Progress

The remake’s world map now provides collectible progress information for different regions.

This allows players to identify areas where they’re missing tokens without manually remembering every spider they’ve defeated.

Nighttime Skulltulas Are Easier to Track

Some nighttime Gold Skulltula locations display faint golden webbing during the day.

This gives observant players a clue that they should return after sunset.

Combined with the Echo Gem, this can reduce the amount of time spent searching for elusive spiders.

Best Order to Collect All 100 Gold Skulltulas

If you’re starting a new playthrough, collecting everything immediately isn’t possible because several tokens require equipment unlocked much later.

Instead, it’s better to collect Gold Skulltulas while progressing through the main story.

Here’s the approach we recommend.

Early Game: Prioritize the First 20 Tokens

While playing as Young Link, focus on collecting Gold Skulltulas from:

  • Kokiri Forest
  • Great Deku Tree
  • Hyrule Field
  • Hyrule Castle
  • Kakariko Village
  • Dodongo’s Cavern
  • Zora’s River
  • Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly

Try to collect at least 20 tokens before getting too far into the adult storyline.

This unlocks the Echo Gem, making future hunts much more convenient.

Mid Game: Collect Dungeon Skulltulas

As Adult Link, revisit earlier locations using your Hookshot and new abilities.

While exploring the Forest, Fire, and Water Temples, try to collect every Gold Skulltula in each dungeon before leaving.

Learning the Scarecrow’s Song and unlocking the Longshot will help you reach several hidden platforms.

Late Game: Finish the Desert and Remaining Temples

Toward the end of the game, focus on:

  • Gerudo Valley and Gerudo Fortress
  • Desert Colossus
  • Spirit Temple
  • Shadow Temple
  • Zora’s Fountain
  • Remaining Young Link soil locations
  • Any missing dungeon collectibles

Use the world map to check your progress and revisit areas where you haven’t collected every token.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Gold Skulltulas are in Ocarina of Time Remake?

There are 100 Gold Skulltulas in the Nintendo Switch 2 remake, just like the original Nintendo 64 version.

Are any Gold Skulltulas missable?

No. You can revisit earlier locations and dungeons to collect missing tokens.

Some require returning as Young or Adult Link with specific equipment.

What happens when you collect all 100 Gold Skulltulas?

Collecting every token completely breaks the curse affecting the family inside the House of Skulltula.

The father rewards you with a Gold Rupee worth 200 Rupees, and you can return for additional Gold Rupees.

How do you get the Echo Gem?

Collect 20 Gold Skulltula Tokens and visit the House of Skulltula in Kakariko Village.

The Echo Gem helps detect nearby Gold Skulltulas.

Do Gold Skulltulas only appear at night?

No. Many outdoor Gold Skulltulas only appear at night, but others are available during the day or inside dungeons.

If you’re searching for an outdoor spider and can’t find it, try changing the time of day with the Sun’s Song.

No. Several Gold Skulltulas require Adult Link’s equipment, including the Hookshot, Longshot, Megaton Hammer, and Silver Gauntlets.

You’ll need to travel between both timelines to complete the collection.

Is collecting all 100 Gold Skulltulas worth it?

If you’re aiming for 100% completion, absolutely.

The 10, 20, and 30-token rewards are particularly useful because they provide larger wallets and the Echo Gem.
