We already knew that Marvel Rivals will introduce the members of the Fantastic Four in the Season 1. And now as the second half of season 1 begins in 21st February, we will finally be able to play as the Thing and Johnny Storm.
So, if you are like me and want to climb the ranks with the Human Torch in Marvel Rivals, then this is the guide for you. Here, I have accumulated all the info regarding the Human Torch, along with my personal experiences with the game to give you a quick and easy guide to use Johnny perfectly.
The Human Torch Skills

Johnny Storm or the Human Torch is an air borne duelist in Marvel Rivals similar to Iron Man and Storm. He plays the disruptor role in a team that offers elements as a diver as well.
Primary Fire/Left Click: Fire Cluster
The Human Torch’s primary attack is as the name suggests is targeted clusters of fire. There are 6 cluster in total that he can fire and they recharge quite fast. So, if you manage your resources right, you’ll never have to reload. This skill deals more damage at close range, similar to Punisher’s Shotgun.
Secondary Fire/Right Click: Blazing Blast
This ability allows Johnny to launch a fire blast that will deal damage over time. The fire blast are rechargeable and at an instant you will get 2 shots.
Skill 1/E: Pyro Prison
If there are more than 2 Blazing Blast fire zones in the field and they are angled in a way to connect with each other then pressing Skill 1/E will allow the Human Torch to create a Pyro Prison that will deal damage to everyone in the prison area. The prison area needs to be in level ground and can be massive.
Skill 2/F: Flame Meteor
As the name suggests, the Human torch will dive towards targeted location to deal damage and knock back opponents. It will also detonate any Blazing Blast fields you have on the ground.
Skill 3/L Shift: Plasma Body
This is a movement skill that will allow Johnny to traverse faster in the air.
Ultimate Skill: Supernova
The Human Torch explodes into his burning state for 8 seconds. During this time his primary attack will create flame tornados that will deal massive damage to the opponents.
Team Ups
United Siblings
If Johnny teams up with his sister Sue Storm then she will provide her with another ability that will grant him shield and damage resistance. This is similar to the shield and bonus health she gives to Mr. Fantastic.
Omega Fire
When teamed up with storm, combining both of their ultimates will create Omega fire that will make storms ult last longer and deal more damage.
How to Play the Human Torch aka Johnny Storm in Marvel Rivals
The Human Torch Combos
While there are a lot of combos that will be discovered soon, here is a basic combo that you can use to take out any single enemies:
Primary Fire > Secondary Fire > L Shift
In this combo, you will be doing 2 animation cancels and a dive. First your primary will deal damage and the animation will be canceled by the secondary. The secondary’s animation will then be canceled by the dive and you will do extra damage for blasting the fire zone.
What’s more, this allows you to deal more damage to another enemy with your primary afterwards as your primary deals more damage in close range.
Human Torch PlayStyle
Basically, Johnny will be an area denial character who will hold off choke points and key locations and take out single enemies or divers. Separating the front and the backline should be your primary focus with Johnny. Therefore, you will be staying in the backline and opening spaces for your team. In that sense he will have a similar position as Hawkeye.
You should try to take out low health targets and don’t engage enemies in a group. Remember that he only has an HP of 250. Using his knockbacks on characters like Loki’s healing can be crucial for his team.
Well that’s it. If you follow this guide then you should be able to rule the ranks with the Human Torch, best of luck!
