Starfield, the newest RPG from Bethesda Game Studios, has the potential to become one of their all-time greats. The game’s immersive gameplay and variation in its elements and mechanics are helping the developers amass positive reactions. The sci-fi’s gameplay progression relies heavily on resources, utilities, and weapons as they help to build, research, craft, defend, and many more. They are collected and looted from cases and containers, which usually stay locked.

So, it is okay to say that picking locks has become an essential part of the game and a very challenging process to carry out, too. Lockpicking minigames in Starfield requires miscellaneous items called “Digipick”‘ and a considerable amount of brainstorming. The mechanics of the minigame are very different from any other ones. The game’s directives about lockpicking are vague and confuse players more than they help them. So, this Guide will help you by going through some easy steps to Pick Locks in Starfield.

How to Pick Locks in Starfield

The game issues misc items called “Digipicks” to pick locks of containers, cases, doors and many more. Digipacks are found everywhere, from chests to enemy loots, as they are considered consumables. Moreover, they can also be purchased from merchants using credits.

Now, moving on to picking locks, once accessed a lock using Digipicks, players will be shown layers of security rings lined one inside another. These rings have a number of holes in them in different combinations. And besides the rings, there are slots of keys presented by the Digipick, which are used to unlock the security layers. By matching the combination of the points of the keys with the holes, security layers are unlocked one after another.

Now, the trick is to use the number of holes in each layer to figure out the best matchable keys present among the slots and use them. Take the most plausible group of keys and rotate them along the rings one after another to line them perfectly. And by following these steps, you’ll be picking locks in no time.
