Starfield gives players the option to persuade people to avoid various situations. But you will need to complete a check before you can persuade someone. Here is how it works in the game.

Starfield is Bethesda’s new space RPG that gives players a lot of freedom to explore the whole universe. In the game’s very first mission, you are given a ship that can jump from galaxy to galaxy. Each of these galaxies has its own solar system with planets and moons. You can land on and explore all of the planets, provided they are not stars or gas giants.

Exploration is not the only freedom the game offers. Starfield also has different ways for the players to play the game. One of the more pacifist routes is the persuasion route. You can persuade people to get out of various situations and even lower the price of some items at some point in the game. However, persuasion is not easy either. Here, we will break down how these mechanics work in the game.

Persuasion Mechanics in Starfield

Persuasion shows up in different dialogue options in Starfield’s main and side quests. If you decide to persuade someone, a mini-game of dialogue will start. When you initiate persuasion, you will see a persuasion bar at the bottom of the dialogue and the number of turns. You need to fill up the bar without the turns reaching 0.

On the dialogue option, there will be different numbers indicating how many bars the dialogue option will fill up once selected. There are three colors of dialogue: green, yellow, and red. Green has the most chance of success, while red has the least. However, none of the options has a 100% success rate. So it is up to you to decide which one to choose to get the best possible outcome. If you want to become a master of persuasion, there are certain skills that will help you do so.

Increasing Persuasion Chance

The best skill for a persuasion build is none other than the Persuasion skill. At level 1, it will increase the chance of persuading someone by 10%. At the maximum level, it will increase the chance by 50%. So, this is the most valuable skill to grab if you want to succeed in persuading people. Some other ways you can temporarily increase your character’s persuasion are by drinking alcohol and taking chemicals that boost persuasion.
