There are currently two ways to transcend beyond your normal powers and become Super Sonic in Sonic Origins.

Sonic Origins is a collection of all the classic Sonic titles released from 1991 to 1994. Starting from the original Sonic the Hedgehog to Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, you can play them all under this remaster bundle. In addition to enjoying these classic Sonic games in high resolution, you can also enjoy new challenges and levels.

If you have played the original Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, you’ll know that the blue speedster can transcend beyond his normal powers and transform into Super Sonic. Published by Archie Comics, the lightning yellow version of our favorite speedster was first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog Comic’s issue #4.

In both comics and the original games, Sonic could become Super Sonic by drawing powers from seven magical relics called Chaos Emeralds. However, the concept was not introduced until the second Sonic game was released.

That’s why players can only transform into Super Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, not Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic CD. In this guide, we will be explaining how you can enter the Super Sonic state.

How to Become Super Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

To become Super Sonic, you must first collect 7 Chaos Emeralds. In addition to that, you must also collect 50 Rings. You can collect these Chaos emeralds and rings at every checkpoint. If you have fifty rings on hand when you reach a checkpoint, the pipe where you need to jump into will begin to sparkle. You will collect several chaos emeralds and rings when you pass through this pipe.

Throughout the course, you will come across three of these checkpoints. And once you have collected all seven of the emeralds and fifty rings, all you need to do is jump into the air and press the command button. If you’re playing on a PC, press the X key. And if you are playing on Xbox, press the Y button. Lastly, just hit the triangle button if you are playing on PlayStation.

Now, it’s important to note that the transformation wears off when all your rings are consumed or if you die. On the bright side, you are rewarded with a Chaos Emerald each time you collect fifty rings. So, keep collecting rings along your path to enjoy this Super Sonic transformation a bit longer.

How to Become Super Sonic in Sonic 3 & Knuckles

To transform into Super Sonic in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, you must pass through giant rings that will teleport you to the Blue Spheres level. It’s a special level where you must tread along a chessboard-looking path. Here, you must collect all the blue spheres while avoiding the red ones.

If you hit even a single red sphere, you will fail the puzzle, so be careful. Once you’ve successfully completed the puzzle, you will get a Chaos Emerald. Repeat this process seven times to collect all the chaos emeralds you need to transform into Super Sonic.

How to Become Super Sonic using Cheat Codes

This is the second method of transforming into Super Sonic. If you can’t go through the hassle of collecting Chaos Emeralds, try playing the sounds  04, 01, 02, and 06 to get seven Chaos Emeralds instantly. If you enter the codes correctly and in the right order, the Chaos Emerald jingle will play. To make things easier, this cheat code works for both Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as well as Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Moreover, you can also use this cheat code to become Super Sonic in Sonic CD. However, you will need to take a more roundabout approach. Firstly, you’ll want to press Up, Down, Left, Right, and START. Then, set the number of Chaos Emeralds to 7. After that, play the sounds 04, 01, 02, and 06 in this order and collect 50 rings. Once you have all the rings you need, press the X key for PC, the Y button for Xbox, or the triangle button for PlayStation.
