Learn if you should use the Auto-battle feature in Total War: Pharaoh.
Total War: Pharaoh is the new installment in the Total War series. This Bronze Age historical game is well-detailed, practical, and geographically oriented. The game lets you rebuild your civilization and immerse your soldiers in wars. To fight and win, you need to build your empire with the best group of frontliners, archers, spearmen, and many more.
You can also upgrade the troops according to your needs to match your gameplay with the tech tree. The game offers a very competitive combat system and has many variations to choose from. You can implement your own strategies and ideas on the battlefield to ensure victory.
When the enemy is much weaker than you, you might need simple strategies to play with. Sometimes, you don’t need to deploy your enemies to the battleground manually. The game allows you to use an “Auto-Battle” feature, which can save time and headaches. The question is if you should use the auto-battle at all. Let’s find it out in our guide.

Should You Use Auto-battle in Total War: Pharaoh?
What is Auto-battle?
In Total War: Pharaoh, you have three choices when you are out on the battlefield and ready to fight. Those are:
- Enter the battle
- Retreat
- Auto-battle
Auto-battle is an option you can choose during the battle, and by doing so, the AI will use calculations and then compare the two teams’ relative power and decide a winner for that war. When you select the auto-battle option, the pre-battle screen will tell you the estimated outcome of that match. It will show the probability of winning a team based on their units.
Should You Use Auto-battle?
In my opinion, you should use the auto-battle feature if you have a more significant number of units than the enemy team. It will save you a lot of time, and you will win the battle without much hassles. But by doing so, you might take more casualties on your units. If the number of units is similar to your opponents, then it is better to fight manually. Auto-battle can cause some of your troops to have more damage, resulting in defeat. Taking the risk of manually fighting might grant you more chances to win.
Nonetheless, the auto-battle feature is super helpful, and you should try to experiment with the features to see which would be preferable for you. After all, winning is the main priority of the battles, and you should do what is right to gain victory.
