Salt and Sacrifice is the sequel to Ska Studios’ hit 2D side-scrolling action RPG from 2016 titled Salt and Sanctuary. Like its predecessor, Salt and Sacrifice has the same retro-modern fusion art style. In the fantasy-action RPG sequel, you get to play the role of a Marked Inquisitor who will have to venture out into the world to hunt down and kill mages responsible for bringing chaos and destruction to the kingdom of Alterstone.

That being said, the game lets you create your own character before starting the game. In addition to choosing which class you belong to, you can also select your crimes, giving you bonus items. However, you may also customize your character’s appearance in many ways. In this guide, we have attempted to break down everything about Salt and Sacrifice’s character creation and customization options.
Character Creation in Salt and Sacrifice
In the very first step of creating your character, you can give the protagonist a name of your choice. After that, you must select the Class your character belongs to and their Crime. Below we have discussed how they work.
Character Classes
There are currently 8 classes in Salt and Sacrifice for you to choose from. They are Assassin, Duelist, Ranger, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Highblade, and Sage. The character class you choose will determine your character’s overall personality and combat style.
This difference between each character class is reflected in their stats distribution as well. Moreover, the three skills which come pre-unlocked in your skill tree will also vary depending on the character class you’ve chosen. To get a better idea of how each of these classes differs from one another, you can check out our extensive guide on all classes in Salt and Sacrifice.
Character Stats
Irrespective of which character class you choose, your character will have a base stat of 5 points for each category. Bonus stat points will be added to your base stats depending on which character class you choose. Moreover, your character’s stat distribution will scale the damage inflicted by weapons of relevant stat-scaling. Below is a breakdown of what each stat contributes:
- Vitality – Increases your max HP threshold
- Endurance – Increases the max capacity of your equipment load, allowing you to carry heavier armor and weapons
- Luck – Increases the chance of the enemy dropping loot
- Will – Increases your max stamina threshold
- Resolve – Increases your max focus threshold, allowing you to use weapons with a higher conviction requirement
