Riot will be releasing a new TCG called Project K in the upcoming year.

Earlier in the year Riot Games China announced that they would be launching a new game called “Rune Battlegrounds” in 2025. It was revealed as a new physical Trading Card Game (TCG) based on the League of Legends IP and was exclusive to the Chinese region.

However, Riot recently unveiled that the previously China-exclusive card game would be making a global release with the moniker Project K. As stated before the TCG will be taking heavy inspiration from League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, and Arcane. Furthermore, some artwork from these games will be included in Project K. However, Riot has stated that Project K will be completely separate from Riot’s other card game Legends of Runeterra.

As for the gameplay, the game will feature 1v1, 2v2, and even free-for-all modes. Similar to Legends of Runeterra have decks built around specific League of Legends champions. However, the core gameplay, which was shown in the announcement video, will be quite different.

The game will be first released in China in early 2025 through a local publisher, with plans to expand globally in the future. However, if you want to experience the game sooner, Western audiences can do so at the TeamFight Tactics Macao Open, which will take place from December 13th to 15th.
