Inter-division promotions are likely to get removed from League of Legends 2021 preseason.

Players have been complaining for years how underwhelming sometimes it feels like to climb because of the inter-division promotions. It’s not only time consuming but it also dries out the fun from players while climbing.

And finally, on today’s dev post, Riot Games shared their plans for the upcoming preseason and seems like that they are most likely to remove inter-division promotions from League of Legends.

Regarding inter-division promotions, Riot Codebear said, “Toward the goal of improving progression satisfaction and skill expression in our systems, it’s looking likely that we’ll be removing inter-division promotions to reduce frustration of seemingly hitting a wall when you know you’ve been playing well.”

But at the same time, Riot Games will also be looking at the inter-division demotion protections. This means if the climbing gets easier in order to adjust, Riot will most likely make demotions easier as well.

Riot is also planning to modify the matchmaking which will include include “rank spread limits” and “skill level transparency” updates. They are also considering to improve ranked rewards and legacy recognition.

Although the changes are likely to come in the upcoming preseason, it will bring some considerable changes on how rank will work from 2021 preseason.
