Riot and the community have raised $6M for the Social Impact Fund this year.
Riot Games Social Impact Fund is a philanthropic project created by Riot Games to help players give back to the community. It was announced back in 2019 and has become one of the biggest charities in the gaming sphere. Since then, it has raised millions of dollars for different charities worldwide.
Riot Games recently announced the results of this year’s fundraiser campaign on their Twitter page. With the “Star Guardian” event this year, the community has raised 6 million dollars for Riot Games Social Impact. The money raised will be donated to various charities to help people in need.
What Is Riot Games Social Impact Fund?
According to Riot, “The Social Impact Fund is Riot’s nonprofit engine for our collective efforts for global social impact.”
Essentially Riot Games Social Impact Fund is a fund that allows players to give back to society. Each year Riot Games holds a fundraiser event for each of its titles, raising money for the Social Impact Fund. Money raised from the fund is then given to various charity organizations worldwide.
Last year, VALORANT hosted its first in-game fundraiser, raising $5.5 million through players’ purchases of the Give Back Bundle. Like VALORANT, League of Legends fundraisers also contributes each year to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Additionally, League raises money by selling exclusive skins; the money gained from the skin sale contributes to funds.
