The bug has been resolved by Respawn and crafting is back in Apex Legends.

Update on that @playapex exploit:

We’ve resolved the bug, so crafting has now been turned back on for all playlists.

Exploiters somehow figured out a way to use the crafting materials to shut down a match by literally crashing the servers. Players from the community have been sharing evidence of this abuse via different social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit to show their frustrations.

Following some investigation regarding the matter, Respawn decided to shut down crafting for the time being to fix the problem that is leading to all these crashes. Until Respawn can figure out exactly how these abusers are exploiting the crafting materials to cause these crashes, Respawn won’t bring back crafting to the game.

Crafting has been removed temporarily

To address a server-crashing @playapex exploit, we're temporarily turning off crafting (including replicators, materials, replicator drops, etc.) across all playlists, starting now.

We will turn crafting back on after we're able to finish testing our planned fix. Stay tuned! https://t.co/tMIA9BFX3N

After its initial introduction to Apex Legends, crafting has been a big hit among the player base. The whole Apex Legends community almost unanimously agreed that crafting was a great idea. It has quickly become a crucial part of how players enjoy this battle royale.

we're working as quickly as we can to get this all resolved for this weekend, and I have faith

Respawn devs believe they can hopefully patch this exploit within this weekend and before you know it crafting will be back in the game once again. Till then we have to find loot in the old ways before they introduced crafting in this game.
