The creators of Apex Legends have confirmed that some players were hacked mid-game during a tournament, and the team is already working on the issue.
Respawn Entertainment, the creators of Apex Legends, addressed security concerns after a few professional players were hacked during a tournament. The developers posted about the incident on Twitter and stated that the team is working hard to prevent something like this from happening again.
Earlier this week, two top Apex Legends professional players, Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen and Noyan ‘Genburten’ Ozkose were hacked during a match. Genburten was streaming the tournament live on Twitch, and during a game he saw a cheat overlay appear on his screen.
The cheat software enabled wall hacks in his game where he could see the outlines of every single player in the lobby. He left the game immediately, and a few minutes later, the hacker came to his Twitch chat and texted, “Apex hacking global series by Destroyer2009 & R4ndom”.
Following the hack, Respawn halted the competition and postponed the tournament. ImperialHal was also the other player who got hacked during the game and had aimbot enabled during the match, for which he received an automated ban, which shocked the entire Apex community. However, how the hackers managed to hack other professional players during a tournament is still unknown.
