After 8 years in Fnatic, Rekkles decides to leave to join in G2 to fill Perkz’s spot to form yet another superteam in the LEC
After failing at Worlds for the past few years, Rekkles decided he needed a change of scenery. He decided to join Fnatic’s biggest rival over the past years in G2. It was confirmed a few hours ago and twitter has been buzzing about it.
On November 17th, it was widely reported that Fnatic had a huge offer to re-sign Rekkles but Rekkles chose to explore his free agency options. Subsequently, Perkz had left G2 so that left a spot in the ADC role. G2 aggressively pursued all ADC options and rumors started floating around that Rekkles was going to join G2.
On November 18th, the rumor started to turn into reality when Fnatic announced the departure of Rekkles. It was only a matter of time until G2 announced the move. The announcement came a few hours back with a video on G2’s twitter page
Rekkles joining G2 sent shockwaves around the the LEC and fans have already started crowning G2 to dominate this year. However, it is not a lock for G2 in the LEC. We have seen in the past year of the LEC being competitive in their splits and other teams like MAD Lions and Rogue are making roster changes to improve their roster.
All in all, G2 has bolstered their roster despite the loss of Perkz and they remain still as formidable. Spring spring 2021 is gearing up to be a very exciting split and 2021 will be an exciting year for G2 Esports fans. For the official announcement check this post on twitter.
