Ubisoft just revealed the latest set of changes that are expected to drop in Rainbow Six Siege with Patch Y9S4.2. The biggest changes include a Sledge buff, which makes him a 2-speed operator again.

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new patch ahead of Six Invitational 2025. As the tournament is the biggest Siege tournament of the year, Ubisoft tries not to introduce any big changes just before the Invitational. Professional teams need to learn and practice with the new changes, and that requires some time.

Ubisoft released the new Y9S4.2 Designer’s Notes, which shows a reshuffle to the soft-breaching operators, so their strengths remain balanced. Find more details about the changes below.

R6S Y9S4.2 Patch Notes

Sledge

Sledge has finally received a speed buff that the fans have been wanting for a while now. With the new patch, Sledge will become a 2-speed. 2-health operator just like he was back in the day. This will aid in quickly moving between opening floors and avoid getting C4’d from below.

Buck

Buck’s secondary hard-breaching gadget is being removed from his loadout. This gadget made him too flexible, so the devs replaced it with Claymores. But on the bright side, Buck can now cover his flanks using Claymores, while opening up soft surfaces.

Ram

Ram is getting a slight nerf, with her secondary ITA12S shotgun being taken away. Her BU-GI Auto Breacher is already very effective at creating soft destruction, so the shotgun was just the icing on the cake.

Oryx

Oryx is getting a much-needed buff with his Remah Dash. He will now be able to quickly shift to his weapon after using his dash to get an advantage over the Attacker.

  • Weapon recovery time after dashing: Reduced to 0.2 seconds (from 0.5).
  • Weapon recovery time after dashing against a wall: Reduced to 0.3 seconds (from 0.5).
  • Weapon recovery time after dashing against an enemy: Reduced to 0.1 seconds (from 0.5).

Kapkan and Lesion are also getting some changes. Kapkan’s C4 is replaced with Barbed Wires, while Lesion max GU mines are reduced to 8 (from 9) and refill time is being increased to 30 seconds (from 25).

Weapon Balancing

Ubisoft is adjusting the damage drop-off for Slug Shotguns that made them too effective at long-range fights. The BOSG.12.2 took the most advantage of this damage drop-off range being increased in Y9S1. But the devs have now addressed this issue and are changing the damage drop-off range once again so they are not as lethal in the long range.

  • Damage drop-off start: Reduced to 15 meters (from 25).
  • Damage drop-off end: Reduced to 25 meters (from 35).
  • Damage at maximum range: Reduced to 60% (from 70).
  • Destruction range: Reduced.

To adjust to this new drop-off value, the damage of TCSG12 has been increased to 75hp (from 63). Another weapon change is a recoil buff to the G36C, to increase its popularity.
