Ubisoft just unveiled the latest season coming to Rainbow Six Siege, Operation Crimson Heist, which will be bringing the new operator Flores and a bunch of new updates.
In the jam-packed developer’s panel, Ubisoft announced their massive plans for the tactical FPS shooter. And with Operation Crimson Heist (Y6S1), we’ll finally be receiving some of these exciting new changes.
Flores: New Attacker
Santiago “Flores” Lucero will be the new operator from Argentina, joining the Rainbow Six Siege squad in Year 6 Season 1. The 2-speed 2-armour attacker brings an explosive drone called the “RCE-Ratero“. This unique drone can be deployed like a regular drone, but cannot be driven like a normal one, as it will continue to accelerate and won’t stop before exploding. Once deployed, the drone can only be steered left and right for a total of 10 seconds, and it can be destroyed by shooting similar to a normal drone.
However, the 3-second detonating timer can be triggered early, which turns the drone completely bulletproof before exploding. Each explosion seems to have a blast radius similar to a Nitro Cell, so the gadget can be used to destroy both defender utilities and also clear out anchors from tight positions.
Flores has four of these detonating drones (also two normal drones), which seems like a lot right now, but it might be tweaked before its release on the live servers. In his loadout, Flores will have the AR33, Blackbeard’s SR-25 DMR, and the GSH-18 Handgun as his secondary. He also has the option of a Stun grenade or a Claymore as his secondary gadget.
Border Rework
‘Border’ is the map that is receiving a rework in Operation Crimson Heist. Ubisoft wants to give this map a slight overhaul to streamline and introduce some fresh quality-of-life updates. This means the “Do not attempt to board the helicopter” announcer and the helicopter noise can no longer be heard once the round begins.
- Increased brightness and visibility across the map
- Less noise during the action phase
- 1st Floor
- Increased size of bathroom, now covering the old Tellers exterior wall
- Moved door, adjusted cover in Supply Room
- Removed two soft walls between Customs & Passport
- 2nd Floor
- Increased size of Archives, decreased size of Offices
- Added interior balcony between East Stairs & Break Room, overlooking Waiting Room
- Adjusted cover in Armory Lockers

Gonne-6: New Sidearm Weapon
The Gonne-6 is a brand new secondary weapon to be introduced in Y6S1 of Rainbow Six Siege. To further counter the heavy-utility meta, Ubisoft has added this impact grenade launcher-like weapon to destroy bulletproof gadgets, but it will only have a single round. The Gonne-6 will be available for selected attackers only, and you’ll have to sacrifice your trusty pistol to bring this weapon.
Match Replay Beta
Announced back in Year 5 reveal, the Match Replay system will finally hit the PC live servers in its beta stage. Some new features have also been included, such as selecting a certain round and scrolling through the newly added timeline. This feature will significantly help pro-players and coaches better understand the games and thoroughly analyse every player’s mistakes.
Streamer Mode
The long-awaited streamer mode is finally being added in Year 6 Season 1. This mode will help Siege streamers hide important information to avoid being stream-sniped, which has been causing a lot of unpleasant moments for the big streamers.
Kali Elite
Featured in the Crimson Heist story trailer, Kali’s “Masterframe Prototype I” elite set is coming with the new season.
Some other changes will also be made in Crimson Heist, such as operator balancing and more, so stay tuned for the latest updates.
Operation Crimson Heist will release today on PC Test Servers, and it is supposed to drop on the live servers sometime around March 16th.
