PS5 homebrew developer Gezine has shared a demonstration reportedly showing access to debug settings on firmware 14.10, bringing fresh attention to Sony’s latest system software. The exploit remains private, with no confirmed public release date.

The development has also sparked discussion around GTA 6, which reportedly requires that firmware version. However, accessing game executables remains an unresolved hurdle, and the demonstration does not establish that GTA 6 will work through a jailbreak.

In brief:

  • Gezine posted a PS5 firmware 14.10 demonstration captioned “Hello 14.10.”
  • The exploit is reportedly private, and a public release remains uncertain.
  • Gezine says the older executable-dumping method appears to fail on 14.xx firmware.
  • GTA 6’s reported firmware requirement has attracted attention, but jailbreak compatibility remains unproven.

Gezine shared the clip on October 19 with the short caption “Hello 14.10.” The footage reportedly shows the console’s debug settings, suggesting progress toward kernel-level access on the newer firmware.

Sony’s official support page currently lists 26.06-14.10.00 as the latest PS5 system software. Its patch notes mention security fixes alongside improvements to performance and stability.

For gamers following the homebrew scene, the immediate limitation is availability. Gezine’s demonstration has surfaced, but the reported exploit remains private. There is currently no confirmed timetable for players to try it themselves.

PS5 Game Executable Access Still Faces a Hurdle

Gezine also highlighted a problem with accessing game executables on newer firmware:

“Old way to dump executables does not seem to work at 14.xx”

The developer added that a hypervisor exploit might be necessary. As such, that wording leaves further investigation open, rather than confirming that every possible approach has been ruled out.

Also, this limits what players can reasonably expect from the demonstration. Access to debug settings alone does not establish a complete, publicly usable solution for extracting and running game backups.

GTA 6’s Reported Firmware Requirement Fuels Interest

PlayStation Game Size has reported that Grand Theft Auto VI requires at least PS5 firmware 14.10.00.00. So, that reported requirement explains why Gezine’s work has quickly become part of the GTA 6 conversation.

However, the available demonstration offers no proof of GTA 6 running through the exploit. Public availability and the executable-access problem remain unresolved, so claims that the game is already ready for a jailbroken PS5 go beyond the evidence.

The Demo Follows Sony’s Reported PSN Update Requirement

Users on firmware 14.00 encountered prompts requiring an update to 14.10 before accessing PlayStation Network. Gezine’s latest demonstration now puts that newer version under scrutiny from the homebrew community, although owners are still waiting for concrete release plans.
