Pokémon UNITE is shutting down on March 23, 2027, bringing the free-to-play MOBA’s run on Nintendo Switch and mobile to an end. Having launched on Switch in July 2021, the game will close a few months short of its sixth anniversary.

Players still have a farewell event to look forward to, with opportunities to collect Unite licenses and Holowear. A new Library feature will also preserve parts of their collections and achievements after service ends.

In brief:

  • Pokémon UNITE ends service on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC for Switch and mobile.
  • Aeos Gem sales, new UNITE Club memberships, and automatic renewals have stopped.
  • A farewell update arrives on November 12, 2026, featuring rewards and the Library.
  • Players must download the required Library data before shutdown to access it afterward.

Pokémon UNITE Shutdown Date and What Happens to Purchases

The shutdown means players will lose access to regular logins and battles. Anyone with remaining Aeos Gems can continue spending them until service ends.

Aeos Gem sales stopped on October 27, alongside new UNITE Club subscriptions and automatic renewals. Existing subscribers can keep using their benefits until their current membership period expires.

In the announcement, the developers thanked players for their continued support and apologized for the news.

November Farewell Update Adds Unite Licenses and Holowear Rewards

The farewell update arrives on November 12, 2026. It introduces a Unite Coin Exchange, special missions, and login bonuses.

Players can earn special Unite Coins and exchange them for previously released items, including:

  • Unite licenses
  • Holowear
  • Trainer fashion
  • Unite snapshot items

Coins will be available through login rewards and missions involving wins in ranked matches and other battle modes. It gives returning players a chance to pick up more cosmetics and Pokémon during the game’s final months.

Pokémon UNITE’s Library Preserves Collections After Shutdown

The Library will let players revisit owned licenses, Holowear, achievements, and tournament records. It also includes access to the Practice Area to view Pokémon moves and Holowear effects.

Regular battles will end, but these limited Library features will remain accessible. Players must complete the initial asset download before the shutdown deadline. New items and records obtained afterward will be added automatically while service remains active.

There’s an important catch for anyone hoping to keep that archive, as Library data generally cannot transfer between devices. Deleting the game or losing its data after shutdown could also make the archive unrecoverable, and post-shutdown support won’t be available.

Aeos Crown 2027 Will Still Go Ahead

Pokémon UNITE’s competitive scene has one more scheduled event ahead. The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will proceed as announced, with qualifiers beginning on December 5, 2026.
