The story follows our Hero, who has been wrongfully convicted for a crime he did not commit, put on probation for it, and sent to Tokyo to attend high school there for a year until his probation is lifted.
You have been enrolled in Shujin Academy as a second-year high school student. And your goal is to pass this year without stirring up trouble. However, any hope of sticking to that plan disappears when you find yourself in the Velvet Room. You meet Igor and his attendants in your dream, who warn you that you have become a prisoner of fate and are in need of rehabilitation.
Soon, you find yourself in a perilous situation and awaken the power of Persona to discover that you can use it to change or “steal” the hearts of evil adults who the law cannot touch. As you gain more allies who all awaken their own personas, you must work together to help people by changing the hearts of evil-doers in a position of power and gaining recognition for your work as the Phantom Thieves.
