Riot reaffirms their stance on pay-to-win content for League of Legends.

In the video game industry, pay-to-win refers to a monetization strategy in which players are able to spend money to acquire substantial advantages over those who have not. It’s a controversial business model that has been plaguing the video games industry for the last decade.

It can be found in many games nowadays, although it is most common in free-to-play titles. Because these titles do not require players to purchase the game, they generate cash through other methods. One of these methods is microtransactions. These microtransactions can range from simple cosmetics to products that provide players with a variety of in-game benefits.

That said, League of Legends is one of the few free-to-play games that does not use these pay-to-win strategies. The game has not included any pay-to-win features since its start. And Riot Games, the creator of the game, wants the game to stay that way.

Riots Stance On Pay To Win Content

Riot Games has been under fire since the Cosmic Erasure Jhin debacle. Last month, Riot released a skin for Jhin, which cost 200$. Furthermore, it was a recolor of the Cosmic Jhin skin rather than a unique skin. Riot’s action enraged players, which came as no surprise. Some questioned if Riot would even include future pay-to-win content in League of Legends.

Recently, Riot has come out and addressed some of these concerns. They reaffirmed their previous stance on these types of content. Riot has never incorporated pay-to-win content and has no intentions to do so in the future.
