Chinese Game developer Mihoyo is reportedly suing Billibilli to find people that are leaking Genshin Impact content.
Mihoyo is a Chinese video game development and animation studio based in Shanghai, China. They are the developers of popular Gacha games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Guns Girl Z. Among these games, Genshin Impact has gained worldwide popularity and is currently one of the highest-grossing mobile games. The game is available on almost all platforms including PC, PlayStation, Android, and IOS.
Mihoyo has cracked down on leakers many times. Previously Mihoyo apparently sued a Chinese leaker for breaking NDA. And now it’s suing Billibilli, a Chinese video-sharing website similar to YouTube to find Genshin Impact leakers. According to the Chinese privacy laws, Mihoyo cannot directly ask Billibilli for information about these leakers so that’s why they are taking this roundabout approach.
Mihoyo Suing Billibilli:
Zeniet on Twitter recently reported on the news of Mihoyo suing Billibilli to find personal information about leakers. The Tweet reads,
“Mihoyo is sueing Billibilli (CN Youtube) to identify leakers in the platform and get personal information. Videos in the platform are temporarily limited at this time.”
Genshin Update on Twitter also shared the news of Mihoyo Suing Billibilli to find out leakers. The Tweet compared Mihoyo’s actions to the Genshin Impact’s “Vision Hunt Decree” which was the driving point of Inazuma’s Storyline.
Mihoyo is apparently looking to prevent insider leakers from leaking content related to Genshin Impact’s upcoming story and other things. So at the moment Genshin Impact data miners who look through game files to find leaks are considered safe.
