Bungie has released Marathon Update 1.0.6.3, and while this is not a massive content drop, it still brings several important gameplay, economy, and quality of life changes. The update mainly focuses on loot rewards, grenade stack sizes, C.A.R.R.I. Armory fixes, ranked access adjustments, and a few annoying bugs that were affecting the player experience.
Marathon Update 1.0.6.3 Adds More Prestige Salvage Rewards
One of the biggest changes in Marathon Update 1.0.6.3 is tied to the item economy. Bungie has updated several map events so they can now drop Prestige Salvage as part of their loot rewards. This applies to Lockdown on Dire Marsh, Intercept on Perimeter, and Convoy on Outpost.
This should make these events more rewarding for players who are actively chasing higher-value materials. Since Prestige Salvage is one of the more desirable loot rewards, this change gives players another reason to engage with these activities instead of ignoring them during runs.
Armory and C.A.R.R.I. Armory Changes
The Armory also received a small but important fix. Bungie addressed an issue where Hurting Hands V4 could be claimed for free more than once. That bug could clearly affect the economy, so it makes sense that Bungie moved quickly to close it.
The C.A.R.R.I. Armory saw more meaningful changes. Deluxe C.A.R.R.I. Salvage Crates now drop more salvage across all rarities, which should make them feel more worthwhile. Bungie also fixed an issue where C.A.R.R.I. weapons were not showing up when they matched a voucher offer the player already had.
Another notable adjustment is that previously non-refreshing C.A.R.R.I. offers will now reset weekly. However, the Superior Key Template will only reset up to a stock of one each week. Bungie clarified that this does not affect its starting stock of five or any remaining stock above the weekly reset limit.
Grenade Stack Sizes Have Been Reduced
Combat also gets a major inventory-related change in Update 1.0.6.3. Bungie has adjusted in-run stack sizes for multiple grenade types, which should have a direct impact on how players manage their equipment during matches.
EMP Grenades, Chem Grenades, Frag Grenades, Heat Grenades, and Flechette Grenades have all been reduced to a stack size of one. Claymores have been reduced to a stack size of two, and Rooks or Sponsored Kits that previously came with three Claymores will now only receive two instead.
Proximity Sensors, Smoke Grenades, and Ammo Crates remain unchanged with a stack size of three. Bungie has also reduced barter limits from ten to three per day, which should further limit how easily players can stockpile certain equipment.
Stryder M1T Gets a Small but Useful Fix
The Stryder M1T received one weapon-specific adjustment in this update. Its Prestige Precision Optic Mod can now properly distinguish between UESC and enemy Runners.
UI and Contract Reward Fixes
Marathon Update 1.0.6.3 also includes a user interface fix. Bungie fixed an issue where runner eliminations were incorrectly appearing on the player HUD.
Contracts also received a clarity update. Tier 3 Contracts that can reward either Enhanced or Deluxe salvage will now always display Enhanced salvage as the baseline reward. This should make reward expectations easier to understand before players commit to those contracts.
Cryo Archive Gets Spawn Rush Protection
In the Cryo Archive zone, Bungie added secure vents to Cargo and Index. According to the patch notes, this change is meant to prevent spawn rushing.
Ranked Holotag Entry Requirements Adjusted
Ranked access has also been tweaked in Update 1.0.6.3. Gold Holotags can now enter High Stakes, while Platinum Holotags can now enter Low Stakes.
PS5 Invite Issue Fixed
On PS5, Bungie fixed an issue where players could not use a platform invite to โjoin crewโ if the in-game crew privacy setting was set to โinvite onlyโ.
It is a small platform-specific fix, but it should make joining friends smoother for PS5 players, especially for crews that prefer keeping their privacy settings locked down.
Overall, Marathon Update 1.0.6.3 feels like a focused cleanup patch. The biggest changes are the new Prestige Salvage drops from map events and increased salvage from Deluxe C.A.R.R.I. Salvage Crates, reduced grenade stack sizes, and ranked Holotag entry adjustments.
