The latest title of the Like a Dragon series outperformed previous entries to have the largest launch ever on Valve’s gaming platform.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth achieved the best launch of the Like a Dragon franchise on Steam. Infinite Wealth is a role-playing video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku and published by Sega. The game is the eighth mainline title of the Like a Dragon series and a direct sequel to 2020’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Infinite Wealth was one of the most anticipated games of January 2024. The game is mainly set in Hawaii and features both Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, and the original protagonist of the series, Kazuma Kiryu. Fans were excited to see both protagonists pair up and share the spotlight.

The game was released on January 26, 2024, and within two days, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth had the series’ biggest launch on Steam. Moreover, the game had almost two times more concurrent players than the previous title, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Infinite Wealth’s Success on Steam
According to SteamDB, Infinite Wealth hit 34,344 peak concurrent players just a few hours after release. On the other hand, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name had 13,737 concurrent players at launch.
Moreover, Infinite Wealth also became Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s best-ever launch on the platform. Because of the game’s global multiplatform launch, Infinite Wealth had a big success on Steam.
